We've rented self-catering cottages on a dozen or more vacations in England. 12 Tory was one of the most comfortable we have found. The kitchen/dining area was large and well equipped. Lounge/sitting area was pleasant. Bedrooms and bath were on the 2nd floor (no stairs in the middle of the night). Washer and dryer (large by British standards) were a definite plus. Off-street parking less than 100 yards up the hill. Maggie, the landlord, met us when we arrived and explained how everything worked. The view of Bradford-on-Avon from the cottage was spectacular, and we didn't find the hills as hard to climb as some have indicated (we're in our '60s).
Bradford is a great town: historic and scenic with nice restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance (meat pies at The Bear and pizza at Ravella were excellent). Bradford is well-located for excursions to cathedrals, castles, and great houses. Bath is just a short drive away. We were busy sight seeing every day of our stay.
We definitely recommend 12 Tory.
Excellent location, comfy bed, everything needed for self catering. Maggie the owner extremely helpful!
In Belgium we have a saying: "living like God in France" to express the feeling that you deeply enjoy something. Since are stay in 12 Tory, I would like to change it into "living like God in 12 Tory". The location of the cottage is superb, with a magnificent view over the village, Bradford-on-Avon. We had the privilige to admire the Westbury Whitehorse in full moon, from our bedroom window.
Although the location is very quiet, we were nereby the city center with some superb restaurants and pubs.
The cottage itself is well equipped: a handy kitchen, including washing machine & dryer. The decoration of the living room is tastefull and modern, creating a cosy cocoon. The warm & friendly wellcome of Maggie, the owner, made us feel at home. One of our top holiday destinations !
