We stayed at the Lodge as a starting point to explore further afield on the northern coast. The location is central, but located on a roundabout a little walk into town, however, if you have a car it's a convenient spot to drive to nearby areas.
The hotel itself is very large with a range of seating and eating areas, which is nice if you want to relax somewhere other than the room. It appears to attract a wide range of age groups and guests. And had a live band playing the evening we stayed, however, it was possible to sit in quieter areas of the reception also.
We didn't eat at the hotel, but it had a very large restaurant and bar area which started seatings from 5pm.
The rooms are spacious and whilst simple have most amenities needed. Breakfast was included and had a good range of options and friendly service.
The front desk were lovely and gave good advice on the area.
We drove to CastleRock for dinner and stopped in Articlave to look up some relatives which were all very easy distance.
Overall a decent spot for those who are driving out and about. There's potentially some more charming places in the nearby villages, although The Lodge is convenient, clean and friendly.
