Strange experience from start to finish.
Calling before arrival to try and make a dinner reservation was a failure.
The front desk was not impressive.
The room rate was expensive. The room itself had stained carpet everywhere. The room smelled musty and had a stinky undertone. The decor was tired and worn out.
Having stayed here before, albeit a couple of years ago I was sad to see the change in the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and fairly well appointed, but are dated by modern standards. Power points are limited and away from the bed, making charging phones and devices a challenge, however no major issue. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant, the former menu is gone and now down to a single sheet of laminated paper with a limited options. We only ate once in the hotel, leaving the majority of the food on the plate, nothing special, but not fresh and not pleasant at all, with a moderate price tag attached. This was very disappointing to see and expected much better than.

Staff up until 4 pm were dreadful, told us you might get into your room or not it’s up to housekeeping …. Need a bit more training on how to speak to customers
They never asked our name so they could check the room allocated to us 🙄

Seaview room was basic, but view was good and bed comfy.
Breakfast was cold
Visied the restaurant in the portrush Atlantic hotel with family, 5 of us in total including 2 children. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming and very quick to answer questions about allergens on the menu (I had to enquire as my little boy is dairy free). Everything was clean and tidy and tables well spaced out. It was however the quality of the food that let this place down. It was awful. I had chicken bacon and leek pasta which was borderline inedible, the meat was fatty and chewy and the sauce bland, watery and tasteless. 2 of our party had chicken goujons which weren’t great quality, garlic mayo didn’t even taste remotely of garlic and chips weren’t overly warm. My son’s tomato pasta looked literally just like tinned tomatoes and penne pasta. Even the jug of diluting orange we ordered to drink was really weak and unpleasant. It was such a shame as we were looking forward to a nice family meal and the staff were so nice but the food needs serious improvement.
The location of this hotel is good - and that is the only.good thing about it
The decor is tired - and the room I stayed in was dreadful - if I hadn't prepaid I'd have left
The double bed seemed to have a whole in the middle and the carpet had several worn out and dark stains and actually smelt bad
The fire doors in the corridor are filthy - you can actually see dirty marks running down from the push pads
Filthy - not worth the stay - find one of the b&bs in the area
