Cosy Causeway

Review of Causeway Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Jan 2025
Stayed at Causeway Hotel for the very first time for a winter warmer break. The hotel is very nicely situated right next door to the world famous attraction that is "Giant's Causeway". Staying at the hotel affords you free entry to the Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre. Owned and operated by National Trust, the hotel is full of old world charm. As it was the end of the Christmas period the hotel was still resplendent with beautiful decorations and this added to the overall atmosphere. We stayed in room 17 which is on the first floor and had a sea view. There is no actual lift, however there is a stair lift for those who may need it. The room was large with 2 double beds, excellent wardrobe and drawer storage, tea & coffee making facilities including a modern coffee maker. The bathroom had a bath with screen and a great shower with a constant supply of really hot water. The shower gel and hand wash were high quality, Italian make "prija". The food was very good quality and plentiful. Breakfast selection was excellent. We were on half board for the two nights. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider a return visit in warmer weather. Highly recommended.

Excellent stay with great friendly staff and service. Great views and location with eAdy access to the causeway world heritage site and stunning cliff walks. Food was very good and overall the stay was great value for money. We will be back!

We stayed two nights on the Winter Warmer deal, which was excellent. The food was great, and so was the service. Breakfast overlooking the waves breaking on Runkerry Beach was a highlight.
Great service from Gomer and Alish, also others whose names we don't know.
We really enjoyed music from Francis Faulkner in the bar on Saturday night. Friendly and entertaining- he got people talking to each other and singing along.
The only things that weren't 10 out of 10 were no Smithwicks or snipes of prosecco in the bar (I understand why, but was disappointed) and room service hadn't got to our room by 2.30pm when we got back from our walk, so we did without.
But overall this was a lovely restful stay in stunning surroundings and we'd totally recommend it.

Stayed overnight with my wife. Got a great deal on agoda.com for bed and breakfast.
Upon arrival the reception was busy and also very draughty with all the coming and going. The receptionist was a gentleman and we ended up in room 30 which was spacious and cosy.
In late afternoon We enjoyed the vibe in the bar which was intimate if a little expensive.
We ordered Turkey and ham dinners which were excellent.
Later in the evening there was music in the bar but we both found it very disappointing as it was songs like Wagon Wheel and The lake Isle of Inishfree. We skipped the second part and had an early night.
Breakfast was tasty and there was a great selection.
Hotel retains a lot of traditional features and the location is superb.

Room tip: Don’t go to room 15

We really enjoyed our stay. The Winter Warmer package was very good value and I would definitely repeat the experience. It's a lovely traditional hotel. Our room had a great view over Portballintrae. Food was excellent and there were plenty of gluten free options which was impressive. Staff were really good. ... friendly and efficient

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the room was a calming space and clean, the small veranda where I could take in the beautiful sea views with my morning cuppa was a nice surprise. Bar prices were reasonable and our 3 course evening meal was superb. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was excellent too. The added bonus of having access to the Causeway visitors centre was also a nice bonus and I would recommend setting time aside to see the Causeway itself. It was our first stay but will definitely not be our last and we would heartily recommend.

Room tip: Bring good walking boots and waterproofs for exploring the surrounding area.
