We were not expecting what we found when we arrived. We were quite pleasantly surprised with our accommodation which, while probably a "standard" room here, would have qualified as a luxury room in most other hotels. Furnished in the French style the room was the second best of a multi city trip to Provence and Sicily (the best being the Liberty Hotel in Catania)
The hotel is not in Avignon, which, on some levels was a plus, but rather four or five miles from the gated city. However we had no difficulty driving in through the wall to see the major attractions in the old part of town (The Pope's palace; the bridge; the narrow streeted medieval city).
Our room had a nice terrace at the front on which we enjoyed a room service lunch upon arrival. The bathroom was spectacular, with a double sink, large jacuzzi and ample shower (a rarity in some locations in Europe). The room was very nicely furnished, stocked and equipped.
We had dinner in the restaurant one night and were rewarded with a fine meal cooked by a chef who has been there for over twenty years. His wife, the hostess, made sure to explain that to us when she welcomed us shortly after we were seated.
The breakfast was also very good.

We did not take advantage of the spa facilities which, I imagine, are a bonus for those who are there for that purpose. There is a nice pool area and lovely gardens that all of the rooms appear to face.
The staff was excellent, spoke perfect English and helped me communicate by fax to the US when a business crisis interrupted my vacation. All in all a wonderful experience and a great place to stay when visiting this very interesting city. Oh, let's not forget, ample and free parking, probably hard to find if you chose a hotel in town.More
