Hotel reception clean and friendly check-in. Room access good, room spacious enough and clean and quiet. Breakfast was quite good, 2 sorts of cereal, croissants, pain au chocs, bread, scrambled egg and bacon, juices and yoghurts tea/café. Negatives : shower head did not hold in bracket properly Room 112, so used it handheld. No tea/café making facilites in room. No breakfast/black tea at breakfast.

Booked and paid in full for last July 2020 for our annual drive down to Spain but of course couldn't go....re arranged for July 2021 .
Now we find ourselves in a position not to go this year (A) due to current climate once again (B) to a financial one, asked the property to extend the date to September at another property of there's nearer to the north of France or roll it on again to next year 2022,
BOTH were declined as it's only available for one year, I do find this really off and frustrating that due to no fault of mine they cannot accommodate us in anyway for form due to this PANDEMIC.

    Dear guest,

We understand the problem and we are truly sorry for that.

We can ensure you that we have done our best to extend your voucher for 1 year due to the pandemic. We can't extend it longer unfortunatly.

    Best regards,

    Arena's team.

The hotel was easy to find from the motorway and the secure parking was a bonus. Our room offered enough space and was modern and clean. Beds were comfortable and there was not too much noise. We ate a good dinner at the Campanile, less than 100 metres away. Continental breakfast was more than adequate. Overall, really good value for money.

After unsuccessfully trying to book a reasonably priced hotel in downtown Bordeaux (impossible because of the VinExpo meeting), we settled on the Arena located just off the ring road. This turned out to be a good choice since downtown Bordeaux was a mass of traffic not going anywhere. The hotel is not a quaint little boutique with unique character; it is just a good quality chain hotel. Our room was quite large but had only one chair. There was no closet but sufficient shelves and a hanging bar in a wall unit met our needs. There were no hand towels but the bathroom was nicely furnished. The shower was especially nice. The bed is also very comfortable. The front desk is not always staffed and you have no key; you are given a code to enter your room and to get in and out of the hotel and the secured parking lot if you are out after hours. You also pay upon check-in. If you arrive when the front desk is not staffed, you check yourself in and pay at a machine outside the lobby. None of these were issues and we were happy with the hotel and its reasonable price.

This is an excellent value but VERY BASIC hotel. there is nothing to do at the hotel or nearby, it’s just a place to sleep and shower. It is staffed only part-time, in the mornings and the afternoon-evening. You can actually rent a room through a vending machine outside when no attendant is on service.
I picked this because it is a five minute walk to the University of Bordeaux and I’m taking a two weeks winemaking/vineyard course there. Perfect if you only need a place to sleep.
It’s very new, very clean, very well kept. There are literally ZERO amenities in the room; it’s just a bed, pillows, sheets and some IKEA cubbies to put clothes in. A small desk area and a chair. No clock, for instance, no minibar. The bathrooms are very clean and new and the shower is good, with a dispenser for a combination body wash/shampoo goo. If you run into staff, they are very kind and helpful, and the desk staff have a little English. There is a continental breakfast buffet, very small, for an extra charge - no eggs or meat, just coffee machine, juice, yogurt, cheese, bread and croissants.
So, for the price it’s a great deal! But be aware, you won’t have anything to do here but sleep, watch a little TV, shower in the morning and go.

Room tip: Get a room in the back, facing away from the main highway.
