An enjoyable anniversary treat!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Dec 2017
My husband had booked me an 1.5 hour massage with Cecile which was excellent. She definitely knows her business. The room was pleasantly decorated, good soundproofing and clean although the bed was hard and a tad uncomfortable. The evening meal was tasty and nicely presented, as was the breakfast. All the staff from reception to restaurant were charming and helpful. Downside to our stay, no decaffeinated coffee in our room or facilities for making a cuppa - very bad! The standard room is small and basic - hence expensive for what you get.

Travelling through Europe and happened upon this place.

Modern and friendly but had a little feeling of being a massage parlour.. It wasnt.
Rooms were large, and well appointed.. a little quirk as the bathroom wall were all glass with blinds. looked like a conservatory instead of a lavatory.

Good value.. good staff.. see my review on the restaurant.. Not sure what came first.

The hotel was very lovely but surprised to find in such an industrial area. The staff was very accommodating and they luckily had a kid play area next to the restaurant. It was obvious that they thought about families which was great.

The reason I give the hotel an average rating is how below average the foot was. The menu was 19euros and with a 5euro supplement for fois gras, husband was greatly disappointed by the blandness of the starter. My salad as well was a thoughtless bowl of a few fruits and lettuce leaves. My fish dish had no character either.

Breakfast as well was a bit dicey. One of my hard boiled eggs was obviously rotten and the baguette was so stale my daughter soaked it in her apply juice.

With the total bill for the stay at 190 euros I wish we had stayed in my room and eaten the rest of our road-trip snacks and saved 90 euors for our dinner and breakfast.

Alexis

Stayed 2 nights, the hotel was lovely and very clean. Our room was on upper floor with new carpet the whole corridor and inside the room. Perhaps the room just been updated, freshly painted room. New shower but very small. Breakfast was good and dinner was excellent. There was coffee maker in the room. Asked for a kettle to make tea and got it right away with cups, spoons, tea and sugar. Quite a distance to Bordeaux but not difficult to find a parking garage at the museum or at the centre.

Room tip: Second floor, room 108 and 109 were at the end of the corrodor.

Small, quiet, clean little hotel in Gradignan just off the Rocade (ring highway around Bordeaux) with friendly, helpful staff. It has an excellent chef and menu of French cuisine. Nice jacuzzi and sauna, plus spa services.

I stayed for 8 days during a course at Bordeaux Sciences Agro University. Clientele is almost all French mostly business people. Staff speaks good English and is very obliging. Good option for lodging for courses or for a weekend stay.

We were looking for a stop off at the halfway point on the long drive back from Spain. Gradinan is nearly at the halfway mark and we booked this hotel as it allows pets and although not a high star hotel, it had some good reviews. We were only staying the night and leaving early in the morning, so we really only wanted a meal and a bed for the night. What a charming little place! We were pleasantly surprised, from the colorful ornamental sheep in the garden to the owls on the window sills, to the Xmas tree in the lobby and the bold funky furniture in the reception area, The pleasant receptionist spoke enough English to direct us to our rooms and explain about the wifi etc, The room was bright and clean, more than adequate for two people and an overjoyed staffy who was delirious with pleasure at having a carpet to roll around on after being stuck in the car. The bathroom was plenty big enough with a nice shower and plenty of white towels. It was amazingly clean, as was the carpet and the bedding. We often find that pet friendly rooms are stuck away in dark corridors and are not the nicest places but the room was good enough even if we hadn't booked a pet friendly one. There was a small desk for hubby to do some emails, and plenty of plugs for re charging our devices. We went down to the bar/restaurant with staffy in tow and sat near reception with a lovely glass of red wine , while we waited for the restaurant to open. We took the dog for a long walk around the area, not pretty by any means but enough for the dog and there's enough green space in the hotel gardens. Once the dog was back in the room, we went to the restaurant, it was fairly quiet to start with but I think the restaurant had a good reputation as a good place to eat as quite a few people turned up later on. We had a look at the menu. It's not extensive but it was enough for us, as we wanted to eat and go to bed. We both had the burgers, which tasted like a freshly made burger should, with chips and a small salad. The meat used in the burger was superb, one of the best burgers I think I have eaten. We walked the dog again after eating then went to bed. The room was quiet, no noise from banging doors or people coming and going and we had a good nights sleep. I really have no complaints about this hotel at all, only praise, as it was such a pleasant experience. If you want the ritz don't book here, cos this isn't the ritz but for a comfortable, pleasant stop off point, this is the place. Highly recommended and so pleased we found it, The bill for the room, with pet supplement €6 and our wine it came to €89.70 which we thought was reasonable.
