We were looking for a stop off at the halfway point on the long drive back from Spain. Gradinan is nearly at the halfway mark and we booked this hotel as it allows pets and although not a high star hotel, it had some good reviews. We were only staying the night and leaving early in the morning, so we really only wanted a meal and a bed for the night. What a charming little place! We were pleasantly surprised, from the colorful ornamental sheep in the garden to the owls on the window sills, to the Xmas tree in the lobby and the bold funky furniture in the reception area, The pleasant receptionist spoke enough English to direct us to our rooms and explain about the wifi etc, The room was bright and clean, more than adequate for two people and an overjoyed staffy who was delirious with pleasure at having a carpet to roll around on after being stuck in the car. The bathroom was plenty big enough with a nice shower and plenty of white towels. It was amazingly clean, as was the carpet and the bedding. We often find that pet friendly rooms are stuck away in dark corridors and are not the nicest places but the room was good enough even if we hadn't booked a pet friendly one. There was a small desk for hubby to do some emails, and plenty of plugs for re charging our devices. We went down to the bar/restaurant with staffy in tow and sat near reception with a lovely glass of red wine , while we waited for the restaurant to open. We took the dog for a long walk around the area, not pretty by any means but enough for the dog and there's enough green space in the hotel gardens. Once the dog was back in the room, we went to the restaurant, it was fairly quiet to start with but I think the restaurant had a good reputation as a good place to eat as quite a few people turned up later on. We had a look at the menu. It's not extensive but it was enough for us, as we wanted to eat and go to bed. We both had the burgers, which tasted like a freshly made burger should, with chips and a small salad. The meat used in the burger was superb, one of the best burgers I think I have eaten. We walked the dog again after eating then went to bed. The room was quiet, no noise from banging doors or people coming and going and we had a good nights sleep. I really have no complaints about this hotel at all, only praise, as it was such a pleasant experience. If you want the ritz don't book here, cos this isn't the ritz but for a comfortable, pleasant stop off point, this is the place. Highly recommended and so pleased we found it, The bill for the room, with pet supplement €6 and our wine it came to €89.70 which we thought was reasonable.
