“Wonderful stay”

Early of this year the whole family decided to travel to France. Our Icelandic national team in football qualified for the first time in a major tournament held in France. Since we are football fans we wanted to try to cheer them by participate in at least two games. We did not know in which cities they would play so we decided to look for a place which would be in the middle of france.

In Burgundy we found this wonderful house that would fit the whole family total of 6 adults. When we contacted the owners they were very accomandating and helpful. We got our desired dates set and booked the house. We were in good contact all winter and until arrival when John greeted us with his warm welcome and a list of all good information about the house, the property and the nearby countryside. The whole time he was always prepared to help us in any way he could as a next door neighbor.

The house is a beutiful plesant renovated old farm. Good decorations which holds the beutiful farm charm. You have all the luxury you need as well like, two shower bathrooms and a outdoor pool. The outdoor garden and land bears signs of daily caring. There is also pleanty of space if you have extra guests. The house has a very good wi-fi and a big screen television for the younger generation. For the others the most pleasure was to explore the countryside and see the nearby small villages and visit the wineyards. In the house village there is a bakery and a small store just few steps away. We used to buy the freshly baked bread in the morning and small things every day in the store. For bigger groceris we went to supermarkets just 20-30 kilometres away. The weather could have been better but we had a good share of rain most of the time but that didnt matter at all. Our highligths was to make good family dinners in the well equipped kitchen with all the wonderful ingredients that the nearby land gives. We really charish this wonderful time we spent together and would like to visit again even at wintertime.

Our national team did also a great job by ending qualifying for final 8. That made our trip and stay even better.

With many thanks and greetings from Iceland

“100% relaxation!”
Reviewed 16 October 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My husband and I came here with our young toddler at the end of August to take a well deserved two-week break. The weather at this time was fantastic and we found ourselves eating dinner outside on the stone patio in the evenings, with nothing but the sounds of owls in the distance. Daytime consisted of simply hanging by the pool, which was always clean and wonderfully refreshing in the heat. As the house used to be a former barn, it has real character with original stone walls and wooden beams. It didn't take us long to feel at home, but when we had the urge to move, the host provided us with lots of tips for what to do - in particular his recommendation of a nearby farm restaurant (with only local, home cooked food) was an excellent choice. All in all a wonderful spot to spend the end of summer and highly recommended.

“Beautiful accommodation in a quaint village - an authentic French experience”
Reviewed 7 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

It was me and my partner's first time in the French countryside and it didn't disappoint. We went with a small group of friends and chose this beautiful refurbished barn/farmhouse based on another friend's recommendation.

John was our lovely host who was only too happy to help us when needed, whether it was finding us some beach towels, recommending us a good local wine or somewhere authentically 'Bourgogne' to eat. He recommended a great local 'auberge', which we would definitely go to again.

Everything has been thought of as though it were a proper lived in home with all the things you need: clean towels, linen, iron, wifi, tv, kitchen utensils, board games, books, basketball, bbq, shower gel, and so much more! It's all very tastefully decorated.

I didn't hop in the pool, but the boys all did a few times – I only wish we got there a few more days earlier when the weather was glorious!

We spent the most time in the kitchen which was a great communal spot to chat, cook, eat cheese, drink wine, listen to some music, and on the final night, sit by the wood fire.

The actual village itself is very quaint, with two bakeries within walking distance and a small deli shop. If you want to go outside of the village, then a car is a must. There are plenty of lovely nearby towns; we went to Auxerre and its surrounds (a bit of a drive away but a bigger place worth visiting) and La Charite (really close, also bigger where there is an Auchan supermarket and you can stock up on cheap but good quality wine!)

All in all, we would recommend on staying here and are hoping to come back!

“Beautiful, peaceful escape in the French countryside”
Reviewed 7 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We spent a week here for a family get-together over Christmas and absolutely loved it!

The house is comfortable, spacious and light, and newly renovated to a very high standard – easily accommodating six adults, two children and a baby.

It’s a great place to really get away from it all. It’s so quiet and peaceful surrounded by beautiful countryside, and the town has everything you need for daily essentials with the bakery, shop, pharmacy etc just a short walk away.

The medieval town of Sancerre is a short drive from the house with it's historic architecture, wineries and a number of good quality restaurants. The nearest major town is La Charité-sur-Loire which is very cute – perfect for a day trip or some lunch.

We will definitely return again to explore more of this picturesque part of France, and to make use of the pool and huge garden in summer.
