Admiral Gardens has a great variety of shrubs, trees, flowers especially the Chatam Island Forgetmenot flowering plants.
Interesting to see what plants survive in the winds.

We had heard about this attraction by word of mouth. No formal booking was made. We followed the sign post on the main road. The property is approximately 500m down a very good gravel road . The road in passes through a grotto of tall trees and grassland.
From the car parking area no hint of the gardens are visible. The traveler is in for a most pleasant surprise when walking up to the owners retreat to be met by the owner and usually one or two members of her family. When we were there they were planning and organising the erection of two large marques in preparation for a wedding to take place in three days time.
Having been given directions to view the gardens we set off at a leisurely pace. Many gardens are found here and all are separated by tall hedges of various native trees and shrubs.
Then all of a sudden the reason for the name of the property becomes apparent. Admiral and other varieties of butterflies abound. The plants in the gardens have been carefully chosen to attract butterflies. The gardens also contain some old varieties of apples! A truly magnificent garden worthy of a visit. Admiral Gardens and Farm has a facebook page of the same name.
