It is worth the 30 minute trip to Owenga to visit the statue of Tommy Solomon which is situated at Manukau. To complete the story make sure you visit Kopinga Marae they are open for guided tours on a Wednesday at 10.00am. Make sure you ring first.
A must see. A lovely tribute to race and a person. Way out on the very edge of Chatham Island a visit is well worth it.

The Tommy Solomon Memorial Statue is situated a very end of road at Manakau Point celebrates the last direct full Moriori descendant
