After walking through the Scenic Reserve we came out on to a deserted wild and windy beach with crashing waves. A short walk later and over a sandhill we came on to the edge of some peaceful farmland and skirted the edge of the reserve back to our bus. Another snapshot of what makes The Chathams unique
the aster walk was lovely with many rare island plants, stunning scenery with plenty of photographic opportunities of the beach and ocean. The seal colony was the highlight of the day for me. Search for shells on the beach too!
untouched sand no footprints on the sand when we arrived. but we left ours for as long as the sea remains calm
White sand beaches with turquoise waters and Ink Blue depths the colours were startling. Enjoy the picnic lunch provided by the Hotel.
About a 45 minute drive from Waitangi, again the Department of Conservation has provided a rest area so a good place to stop and have a rest and bite to eat.
Easy access to the beach which has lovely white sand, the sea is a beautiful colour, great place for a paddle and to look for treasures.
Lots of Oyster Catchers roaming around, purely and enjoyable place to visit, you can hang out here for the day if you like, very peaceful place to be.
Awesome to see the Chatham Islands Ake Ake plantings by the community and DoC.
This beach is world class. Miles of golden sand, native trees, crystal clear water, even breakers and, if you wiggle your toes, she’ll fish.
Highly recommended.
