This is a very small museum but it is packed with heaps of information about Chatham and Pitt Islands. There is lots to read as well as to look at.

There is no charge but it is expected that a donation be given.

Nice to see a local person working in the museum, nothing like talking to those who have had families living on the Islands for generations with real stories to tell.

What a wonderful place to learn of the ancient and modern history of the Chatham Islands and their peoples. The contents of this building are a credit to the past and present islanders wanting to share and keep their history intact.
For so small a community, approx 600, spread between four settlements, it is a wonderful show piece with many irreplaceable artifacts within.

Learning about the hardships and life in a place that is kind of forgotten, everything comes in by plane or boat, which are both weather dependent Staff was very helpful, friendly, and just nice.
