We turned up expecting a Hotel...to find a bright pink modern building with a scribbled note stuck on the locked glass front door...''the owners live a car ride away...call this number and we will be there in five minutes'?!!

We were let in by a fellow very disgruntled resident saying that 'this was the system'.

The place was fully booked, and it showed. Mainly with young families. Dirty dishes and kids toys littered the plastic tables in 'reception'. There was no bar just a ill-stocked 'help yourself' fridge and a broken coffee machine. An industrial floor cleaner was just left in the middle of the scruffy reception/seating area.

Although there was an outstanding view to the rear, quite incredibly our VERY dark box like room faced on the busy main road to the front - this was the room's only window. There were no towels or toiletries...another phone call and another wait while the owners drove over.

Wet pool multi coloured pool towels hung on every railing in the public areas.

If you book expecting an unmanned B&B or if you come to beautiful Piedmont but want to stay in a place that looks like a motorway pit stop with a view of the road crossed with a rather scruffy University Halls of Residence this is just the place for you. Otherwise there are countless much more beautiful places to stay in Piedmont.

I am frankly amazed by the positive reviews...I can only assume that these people had the place virtually to themselves and stayed in a huge bright room with a view...and for whatever reason didn't mind having no bar, or cafe or attendance by any staff. Basically a self-catering without a kitchen.

Although we had booked and paid for our stay in advance, we forfeited our money, checked straight out and went and stayed somewhere else...somewhere absolutely incredible. Our holiday time was just too precious to us waste in such a depressing place. Very poor

Room tip: If you don't have a view you'll be in a dark cell looking at a road!

We stayed, one night with two kids. Rooms are nice, fully equipped and clean. They have a nice garden and swimming pool with the best view you can have. Breakfast is good with fresh products. Ask to visit the cellar, they have lovely wines.

We were headed for a different accomodation in the same time when we noticed this place and decided to try it out instead.

This place is wonderful, friendly and very high standards of everything from the breakfast entirely local products, to the Roms and the pool. And the view, omg!

Casa Sobrero offered a lovely stay during our first trip to Piedmont. Fransceca and Frederica were warm and welcoming, putting out a delicious breakfast each morning and making sure we had dinner reservations every night. Casa Sobrero is a beautiful spot, on a hill among the beautiful vineyards of the Barolo region. On clear day, you can see the Alps in the distance. Just gorgeous. We also were able to do a tour and tasting at the winery, which is just up the street, about 300 yards from the agriturismo. Fantastic! The rooms are modern and beautiful. My only word of caution is that there is some construction going on right across the street - so it was a little loud in the mornings, but we are late risers. If you're an early riser, you'd likely miss it entirely. All around, a fantastic find, and we'd certainly go back!

Centrally located in the Langhe region, Casa Sobrero was a great base to visit the surrounding villages (and castles!) and the nearby city of Alba. The rooms were nice. The breakfast generous. The views of the surrounding vineyards was stunning. And the pool was a particularly wonderful to refresher in the summer heat.

Federica was a great hostess for our 4 day stay.
