We stayed here during the truffle season, the hotel is on the top of this little medieval rock, ie in the very centre of what used to be the castle. And so boasts views of all the countryside around (fog permitting!)
Formed of just a few rooms, the structure sits at a corner with the restaurant, which is a proper functioning restaurant and quite a good idea if you like rolling into bed after dinner. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the resto so cannot comment on it. Each room is decorated differently, all in a country type of style. Being in the middle of the fields, you may find the random insect in your room - please don't take it on the manager but with Mother Nature!
Overall I was happy with the stay, albeit potentially a little overpriced compared to other structures in the langhe, guess you pay for history and the view?
What I would recommend people to consider before booking though is the bell of the village church: one of the perks of being on top of the rock is that on the other side of the yard sits the village church, which likes to remind people of the passing of time by chiming the bell on a quarter-of-hour basis, starting at 6am I am told by someone who's not blessed with deep sleep!
