My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. The restored monastery has been expertly decorated and refurbished in an aesthetically pleasing way. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Our room was a deluxe and was big enough and with enough storage space. I was really pleased to find a bath tub!
It rained 2 days and was quite chilly when we were there, so we ended up spending most of one of those days at the hotel which was very quiet and peaceful. We had a late lunch in the restaurant which was delicious. The breakfast buffet had sweet and savory options and you could order eggs if wanted.
There is not much to the village of Monchiero, so if you are looking for activity you will need to drive to Barolo, La Morra or one of the other villages not far away. Also, the church bells ring on the hour between 8 AM and 11 PM, so if that is something that will bother you, keep it in mind as they are fairly loud.
We had to check out before the breakfast service began, so the staff prepared a very generous assortment of fruit, breads, yogurt and much more for us to take on the train with us. Also, I accidentally left a few clothing items there and they are going to mail them to me at our next stop in Italy. I would say that the customer service was excellent!
This is a great place for a restful stay with beautiful surroundings!
