1 min walk from car park to world heritage site view. Very scenic but loads of flies around so make sure you have your bug spray on! Only stayed for 5 mins.
Thank you for your review, yes insect spray is an essential when visiting South Westland.
Knights Point Lookout seemed to be a popular rest stop for tour buses. So we had to wait for our turn to take a photo. It turned out to be a pretty long wait as some inconsiderate tourists did not vacate their spot at the small viewing platform after their selfies. When it was finally our turn, we were a little underwhelmed by the view. There are many many coastal viewpoints along the West Coast, much more scenic than this. Not sure why everyone chose to stop at Knights Point.
The toilets are not very clean either.
Another spectacular spot to get out of the car, stretch your legs and admire the view. We also another look at from the air flying with Heli Services Haast. Such an amazing coastline!
The view is wonderful and worth stopping for. It is elevated so you get a wonderful perspective of the coast and the surrounding ocean. Takes a bit of imagination to see the dog's head that the point is named after though!
Leaving the mountains after Haast, we quickly come to this high Lookout over the sea. From here there are wonderful coastal views of headlands and rocky islands set in the mighty Tasman Sea. Such a change of scenery! A good rest stop with sealed parking and toilets.
Biking up hill from Lake Paringa, I had to stop here for a snack and toilet break. Fantastic view of the sea and the rock formations below. Ample parking, clean toilet and picnic spot.
