The view is wonderful and worth stopping for. It is elevated so you get a wonderful perspective of the coast and the surrounding ocean. Takes a bit of imagination to see the dog's head that the point is named after though!

Leaving the mountains after Haast, we quickly come to this high Lookout over the sea. From here there are wonderful coastal views of headlands and rocky islands set in the mighty Tasman Sea. Such a change of scenery! A good rest stop with sealed parking and toilets.

Biking up hill from Lake Paringa, I had to stop here for a snack and toilet break. Fantastic view of the sea and the rock formations below. Ample parking, clean toilet and picnic spot.

This viewing platform has a historical relationship with the construction and the connection of the section of SH 6 between Haast and Ross in 1965, and completing the whole SH 6. The Knight's Point was named after Norman McGeorge's dog Knight. Travellers usually stop for 5 minutes to stretch their legs while watching the rocky cliff and tiny rocky islands on the beach front with enormous Tasman Sea at the horizon. Quite good view to take photos, mainly at the sunset.

Great place to stop and have a view of the sea on your way to or from the Haast Heritage area. Lots of parking available and good info on signboards.
