We ,4 lads, were having a short golfing break in the Valais region and played the Sion Golf club on day one followed by the Omega Masters Seve course on day two. Whereas the Sion course was flat and relatively short the greens were sanded for a full aeration which as well as not being a pretty sight hurt the boys timid putting. To add insult to injury the course director claimed they were perfectly playable and charged an unfriendly chf100.- full green fee ! Day 2 at Crans was another story even after an evening fueled with mucho vino collapso - a wonderful fresh sunny day without a cloud in the sky and the views of snow-capped mountains as we meandered around the course were absolutely stunning .We took a break at the buvette after 9 holes where we were told by club members to relax and enjoy paradise.....and so we did arriving at the 19th hole to while away an hour or so on a sun- drenched terrace. We understand why the pros enjoy coming to Switzerland fo the Omega Masters...and we paid the reduced green fee of chf 70.- (also aerated greens but for some reason this did not bother us as much as at Sion) for the privilege. What a difference a day makes !
