Great location, quiet and peaceful. Lovely nature trails and great service. Lovely rooms with a relaxing atmosphere about it. Homemade honey and jams are a plus. Recommend for family or romantic getaways.

We stayed at the Hotel Martinsmühle for three nights.

Check-in and check-out were fast and uncomplicated. The hotel staff were very friendly.

The room was a good size, and furnished in a cozy, Southern-German rural style.

The bathroom was nice and bright, with a good shower. There was only one type of soap (doubling up as shampoo) in a wall-mounted dispenser. I don’t mind these dispensers as they cut down on unnecessary waste, but I would have liked a little more in terms of standard beauty products such as conditioner and body lotion. I also have to say that while the shower was great for having a removable shower head and good water pressure, hot water ran out quickly in the mornings when all guests had to share, so some of us had to take cold showers.

Wifi was available, albeit quite slow. Enough to read emails, but not enough to share video recordings with family.

Please note that there’s no lift and reception and restaurant are up one flight of stairs, so accessibility might be an issue for older guests.

Some of the extras made up for that – a well-stocket hotel library, friendly pets (a dog and a cat, both very patient and popular with children),

Breakfast started a bit late (8:15 each morning). Unfortunately, we were in the area right around the same time as the EuroBike exhibition, which lead to early traffic jams, so we had to leave very early for our own activities. That meant that we missed breakfast on two out of our three mornings. The hotel staff offered to open the doors for us 15 minutes early on one morning, but with traffic into Friedrichshafen taking an hour longer (or more) than usual, that wouldn’t have been enough.

The one morning we did have breakfast, it was quite good. A standard German selection of bread, bread rolls, cold cuts and home-made preserves, as well as eggs (boiled and scrambled) and a great selection of cereal. The only thing I couldn’t find was hot sauce (like Sriracha or thai chili sauce) for my breakfast egg.

One night we decided to give the hotel restaurant a try. The food was very good, and the prices were fair, especially for the drinks.

All in all it was a nice stay with friendly people; there’s some room for improvement in the details but I would definitely visit again.

We stayed for one night B&B on a stop over between Italy and the UK. Just what we required. Lovely tranquil setting, nice owners who appear to do all the cooking and front of house and all based on their family farm.
Now they have a small animal farm for kids and are clearly very family friendly. The rooms were spotless and the bed and duvet very comfy.
They cook evening food and have a lovely outside raised terrace and BBQ area and lots of inside space to eat in the restaurant or their lobby.
Good value too.

Totally justifies 5-Star Trip Advisor rating – Simple, clean, functional bedrooms and ensuites - Excellent breakfast selection - Limited menu for evening meal but good food and local wine at reasonable cost.

However one word of warning, the tranquillity of this location can be disturbed by a multitude of whingeing toddlers and their hyperactive siblings – So if you are child intolerant or just want peace and quiet, make sure you visit weekdays or outside school holidays.

This hotel is so wonderful. In the countryside yet close to so much to do. Farm animals, rushing stream, hammock chairs on your balcony. The food was the best I had on our entire trip. The family is wonderful. This is truly a hidden jem!!
