We booked a 5 nights XXL Wohlfühl stay at the Ortnerhof in Ruhpolding.
We were quite impressed about the 5 course included Dinner with all it's components as it seems to have a quite high quality (as advertised on the homepage).
The Spa Area was okay, it had one sauna and one steam bath and a relaxing area.
Unfortunately the announced scented water was not recognizable.
The rooms were quite big, we had a double room called "Wohnkomfort" (there was no mini bar in the room, but you're able to purchase something at a vending machine in the hotel during the night).
We had not the impression that we're staying in a four star hotel.

The most dissappointing part of the trip was the restaurant:
Once you came into the restaurant, you can order coffee, get yourself a tea, or juice.
You can chose from several types of cereals. As well they have different kind of buns.
They have a cheese plate and a meat plate.
Unfortunately they didnt offer any fish (especially salmon) or fresh beans or bacon (but at least they had scrambled eggs).

We only participate once at the afternoon food offer so we only tried the soup and got another tea.

But most dissappointing was the dinner:
The announced 5 course menu had great ingredients, but the taste and treatment wasnt expected.
One time i had hair in my soup, and the next day they stored our wine the wrong way during the night (just to give you two examples).
We had the impression that the chef was on vacation and the trainees took over the kitchen.
In general my advice for you:
Do not expect too much! If you take a look at the menu on their website, please lower the bar by yourself. it won't be as good as you imagine :(

Despite that experience at the hotel i honestly can recommend the whole area is beautiful. If you drive a little bit you can visit the Chiemsee, or the Königssee and go up to the Jenner with the Jennerbahn (or even visit Salzburg in Austria which is not that far away and a beatiful city).

This is a very homely hotel in a great location for Alpine walking. We stayed just the one night for dinner B&B and had a very relaxing time. The welcome and the level of service received from all the staff was fantastic. The quality of the food was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. Highly recommended.

The hotel is outside of the town of Ruhpolding itself, but nicely situated next one of the mountains. Be aware that there is a campsite next to the hotel, which we could partly oversee from our room, but apart from that never actually noticed.

The room was very comfortable, the bed at first seemed a bit hard but actually was one of the best beds we ever slept in. The hotel and rooms are cleaned very well. Though we didn't use the spa or the swimming pool this one of the few hotels we would have felt really comfortable with that.

We had diner at the hotel on both nights and were positively surprised by the quality of the food and service.

Parking is available, spacious and free.

If you're looking for a hotel to explore the Bayerische Alps from and even venture into Austria, this is one we would wholeheartedly recommend!

Stayed in late June with our 2 year old daughter. The hotel & staff were very welcoming to us. The hotel is immaculately kept and our room (which was on 3rd floor and had a separate room for our daughter) was really spacious and comfortable. We had a few days out around Ruhpolding including the Freizeitpark which the hotel have us a free pass for and was great fun for kids. Food was great and they took care to produce good toddler friendly meals. We used the pool area a few times which was great too. Worth noting it's on the outskirts of town rather than in the centre. Town is quite small but has a few cafes and a nice park with mini golf.

It is a super place. The hotel is very nice as the people who work there. Delicious breakfast! Comfortable rooms. Lots of place to visit around Ruhpolding. The children loved the whole holiday there. Horse ride, amusement park, salt mine etc. We will surely go back!
