This listing is not located in in Kleve (Schleswig-Holstein) but in Kleve (North Rhine-Westphalia). Google Maps: 51.78861,6.134904. The gate is closed. This Jewish cemetery was closed past WW II. Only a fraction of the old graves remained preserved but of most well-known families at least one or two headstones can be found. Whilst on Christian cemeteries from size and material of the headstones often the wealth and importance of the deceased can be presumed, such would be unthinkable on a Jewish cemetery: cemetery or Memorial - its aim is to preserve the memory of the deceased. This is impressively described by Chanoch Mandelbaum in his book from 2002: "Mögen ihre Seelen eingebunden sein im Bunde des Lebens - Der jüdische Friedhof in Kleve" (May their souls be involved in the bundles of life - the Jewish cemetery in Kleve).
