Great opportunity, could walk from Accommodation to Allstadt. Amazing variety and authentic and comfy town. Great food with excellent atmosphere at a local hotel.
A good and safe night time stroll as well

Our son recommended we make the climb up to Alstadt and we are so happy we made the effort. The building is quite amazing and the views are incredible. You can drive if you aren't up to the climb, but you should see the spot if in Bamberg.

The Bamberg Altstadt is a centre of imperial and episcopal power for almost a thousand years, and often referred to as the Rome of Franconia, the city Bamberg stands on seven hills, the city old town comprises three historical districts – the episcopal town, the island town and the market gardener's town, very nice city ❤️

Bamberg is a charming town situated at the confluence of two rivers. The old centre contains many buildings of historic significance; arguably the old town hall is the most impressive. Bamberg boasts a speciality smoked beer - an acquired taste; I didn't like it at all.

The people of Bamberg asked the reigning authority to donate land to build their Rathaus. He agreed they could build it, but not on his land holdings. Not to be dissuaded they built their Rathaus in the middle of the river. Ingenious! A memorable building that is worthwhile to see.
