“An excellent getaway with friends!”
Reviewed 8 September 2011 for a stay in August 2011

We booked a getaway week for a group of 7 friends. The house was perfect. We slept comfortably in the well-furnished rooms. The spacious kitchen allowed us to make some great family-style meals at home. The weather was great for most of the trip so we spent a good amount of time in the pool. We took a day trip from the house just about each day. It's in close proximity to hundreds of small-town wineries yet close enough to Montpellier if you want a city experience with shopping. We swam in the Mediterranean and also visited Carcasonne which is just over an hours drive and worth the trip. I tried not to work but the wifi access allowed me to keep up with emails. I'd suggest renting this place for a long weekend or more if you are looking for a peaceful stay in the wooded hills and enjoy village-life in the south of france.

ps. The washing machine saved me when I arrived in France with no luggage.

“Super house in lovely rural setting, perfect for an extended family holiday”
Reviewed 21 August 2011 for a stay in August 2011

A perfect, good value, property for families with children of all ages who enjoy the outdoors - lots of walking and mountain bike opportunities. Lovely scenery all around and wildlife on the doorstep - we spotted wild boar and red squirrels on morning walks.
The house is beautifully appointed and well equipped with plenty of seating outside for large family groups to eat together. We loved the pool in it's natural setting (though for families with young children it wouldn't be ideal).
The rural location means that shopping etc. is a car journey away but for us the peace and tranquility of the setting was one of the things that made our stay so enjoyable.

“Charming place w. great comfort”
Reviewed 15 August 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed a week with our extended family in this holiday rental. The property is somewhat remote; you'll have to drive quite a distance to visit villages and cities, but is perfectly equipped for a comfortable holiday. The house is pretty new, very clean and has some great facilities (pool, jacuzzi) - which makes it definitely a high end property!

“Nice property but there is ongoing construction next door”
Reviewed 28 June 2011 for a stay in June 2011

The property is lovely, the rooms are clean (although lots of cobwebs on windows and shelves when we arrived), the house is spacious and has everything you could need for your stay.

We were disappointed when we got there to find that right next door is a house undergoing major construction. This means you have builders starting at around 7.30am (though they try to keep the noise down for you) and people walking past the path that overlooks the pool / garden area a few times a day. It also means you have to ask them to move their truck in order to get your car down the hill.

The pool wasnt working properly when we were there, it wasnt heated and the water kept draining out. We had the repair man visit twice and the caretaker come twice (all at different times) which disturbed our "secluded" holiday experience. It still wasnt fixed when we left and was too cold to get into while we were there.

We did most of our shopping in St Pons which has everything you could need and the weekly outdoor market there is very good. We got bread from Max sBakery in Riols which was worth the trip, plus also had dinner in La Fleur at Olagues which was fantastic.

If you get a chance, go to the Gorges D'Heric and walk to Duche (about two hours). Take your swimming costume as there are lots of places to stop and swim. Also the walk at the Gorges De Colombieries is worthwhile, its a 5 hour round trip and is amazing (though a difficult climb).

Im sure once the construction is finish next door and the pool is fixed it will be an amaxing experience for those visiting.

Management Response
14 Jul 2011
Thank you for your kind words about our home, and we're pleased that you would recommend it. We are very sorry that the newly installed pool malfunctioned during your visit. That was something we could not have anticipated, but it is now repaired. We endeavoured to repair it quickly and we offered compensation for not being able to use the pool. I'm afraid that our neighbour's work is quite outside of our control, and we have been assured that he is doing everything possible to avoid bothering our guests (to which you attest). In fact we have now been notified that the work has been suspended for the rest of the summer season.
