It was like staying with a loving family - the people were so warm and caring and go out of their way to ensure you are happy. Shout out to Vinni - she makes you feel as if you are the most important person at the resort!
The room was spotless as was the bed linen and the bed and pillows were so comfy! Great aircon and the shower pressure was lovely.
Daily happy hour announced by drums at 5 pm means fun tropical drinks were half price. The drinks were great. Only bar snacks would have improved the experience. Just simple things - potato skins, wedges with sweet chili sauce, onion rings, veggie tempura, smaller versions of the pizzas or nachos they had on their dinner menu - heck ever pretzels or chips would have been welcome.
The massages were wonderful - we topped and tailed our stay with them and what bliss!
The wifi was surprisingly good.
The snorkeling in the shallow bay is dependent on tides and isn't great due to warming ocean temps. We didn't get a chance to go kayaking as that is also tide dependent and the timing of the tides worked against us in the mornings for the most part.
There are no planned activities or events here, no kids club, so if you're a family group - you will have to make your own fun. As an over-50s couple, we were happy with that and it seemed to be, for the most part, largely couples staying there.
There were no televisions in the rooms when we stayed in late July 2024, but the manager told us they were getting them installed in the rooms soon. There is also a lack of powerpoints in the rooms, so bring a multi-plug powerboard and extension cable if you want to recharge your phones, cameras and other electronics.
The food lets the place down. It's not bad, but it was as if someone's British nana had taught the chef how to cook dishes she'd never eaten with whatever they had in stock. A seafood marinara with seafood stick in it and a helluva lot of chili. Overcooked lamb. A broken carbonara sauce that looked more like spoiled milk. Dry fish and chicken dishes. Salads drowned in dressing. Stir fries so swimming in sauce the vegetables gave up in limp defeat. Very few starters/appetisers and no option for smaller serving sizes. From what I could tell, all the juices were bottled or canned, not freshly squeezed.
The live music every night by Sav and other staff plus the aforementioned kindness and warmth of the staff made up for most of the disappointment over the food. Plus the setting is gorgeous.
Just a few little tweaks and this place would be perfect. The swimming pool area needs an awning over it so people can lie about it or swim in the afternoon without being exposed to the glare of the sun, Some bar snacks. Get the kitchen sorted. And a few low-cost planned activities - like a karaoke night, a beach bonfire and story telling night, a buffet of local food, a dancing exhibition, yoga on the beachfront, a paint and sip event - would have made our stay even more special.
However, I would stay here again and would recommend it to my non-foodie friends! Pricing is great, people were fantastic, the view was gorgeous.
