COSY & FRIENDLY

Review of Hôtel Adret
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Mar 2022
Reasonably priced for half-board, and what is vitally important, a comfortable bed. We had a south-facing room with a balcony, which was very nice on a sunny afternoon. However, I agree with the other gentleman that the bathroom needs modernising; a complete revamp and remove the bidet and you could have a decent length bath. It also needs lots of shelves and hooks to put your stuff on.
Breakfast was OK, but the only hot food was boiled egg, which you have to cook yourself. I got into big trouble for going into the kitchen to look for water to fill the kettle for my tea. The hot water machine doesn't produce water that is hot enough. I like muesli, but there was none.
The evening meal was always well presented: you don't have to have the set menu; give them sufficient notice and you can have, for example, a raclette.
We can't fault the staff - always friendly and helpful. Monsieur & Madame Faure are perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble (but don't go into the kitchen!). Having a ski-boot warmer and the minibus to take us to the cable car each morning was ideal, though the catch/locking mechanism for the ski room could be updated.
The pool was "different". So shallow at the shallow end that you can't swim there, but the deep end (2 metres or so) suddenly appears and takes you unawares, turn round and you bang your knees as the shallow end suddenly appears. But having a sauna afterwards was really great. I didn't use the gym equipment, but it looked uninviting; maybe a giant TV to look at whilst you imagine racing with the pelaton would be good - or even some background music. It all looks a bit dated.

Lovely family run hotel. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were great, dinners were delicious! Our room had a great viewing of the resort. I would recommend and go back. Thank you!

Got Ben’s shuttle bus from Grenoble airport, we were dropped of at “Point Info,” the first stop in Les Deux Alpe. Hotel Adret was easy to find and only a short walk. Unique in design, traditional decor, “not a modern plastic fantastic.” We were made to feel very welcome by the hosts and their staff, they really couldn’t do enough for you. Like all hotels they are in constant use and, therefore, there are always things that need doing. However, because of the service, cleanliness and quality of the food, these made no difference. From a skiing point of view, what a perfect place, loads of runs, plenty of lift and the hotel runs a shuttle service to the lifts, if needed. Very near to the hotel, two minutes walk, there an easy run that takes you to the bottom of the village, where’s there’s a lift, which takes you to a green run that you can the ski to the main lifts in the centre. I recommend the hotel, it’s location and the resort. We had a perfect holiday.

This hotel is totally brilliant largely due to the two lovely owners who just can’t do enough for you. The list of how they helped make our holiday the best is endless but includes a lift to the ski hire shop and ski lifts every day, ringing up ski school for us, getting my wife an ice pack for her knee and providing vegetarian food.
Add to this excellent food, free parking, a swimming pool, sauna and comfy lounge. We (2 adults and our 2 children 12 and 18) were guests for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year and had the best holiday ever. We will be back for certain.

A perfect stay over New year's, we stayed 6 nights with our 2 two kids, 10 and 15 years old. Half board was really worth it as the chef is a good cook. Every dinner is different and very well balanced. Buffet breakfast has lots of choices even possibility of boiling your own eggs, fresh fruit, and home made fruit salad, choice of cold meat cuts and cheese...great location, close to tourism office and EDF ski school. Les Deux Alpes is a fabulous ski resort as you can just leave your car all week and do everything walking or by free shuttle that runs all day. It offers entertainment for ski fans or not and has a lot of different places to eat. It has a feel of a small village but a large choice of options for ski days. We'll be back!

We (2 couples) arrived late on Thursday evening and immediately felt welcome. There is dry secure storage for bikes.
The owners are brilliant hosts, nothing seemed to be too much trouble, they provided a kettle and fruit for our husbands to enable them to make their own breakfast due to a cycling event in which they had to leave early.
The rooms are basic but clean and extremely comfortable. The hotel has a warm and friendly aura about it.
When asked for recommendations the owners are able to provide first hand experience as it has been their home for years. There was always someone available to ask a question or order a drink but never intrusive.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and Les deuz alpes for anyone looking to walk, cycle or even ski as it proved to be the perfect base

Room tip: pour room had a balcony, great for enjoying an evening drink
