Great basic hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Mar 2024via mobile
We stayed here for a weeks skiing at Jan Session hotel on half board. I would rate the hotel as a 2 star hotel. The rooms are basic but fine. Soon time for a refurb. The ski room is easily accessible and no more than 1 or 2 mins to the slopes. Tip - the Villahe lift is very close for a return from mid station. Breakfast was buffet style. Evening meals Italian style 3 / 4 courses. There is also a gym in the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Pleased we stayed.

We have just completed a week long stay with hotel Jam Session booked through sunweb. Overall the stay was excellent for the price paid we couldn't have asked for anymore.

The room was spacious with a good sized bed and plenty of storage for two people. The bed was very comfortable with two single duvets.
The shower was nice and strong and a good temperature, the boiler above the toilet was interesting to see but not an issue.
Cleaning was done daily, with fresh towels etc when required. Overall the hotel is clean but as expected a little dated, but the hotel prioritises being affordable over cosmetics.

The ski storage room leads out onto two slopes/lifts pretty much and a bus gets within 2/3 minutes walk making trips into town very easy.

The food is a buffet breakfast with options for everybody, including cheese, ham, bread, croissants, yoghurt, eggs, cereal etc. which was more than adequate for us.

In the evening they do a set 4 course meal Italian style, typically buffet salad, pasta dish, meat dish and then pudding. These were largely good, portion sizes for us were a little small given the amount of exercise we were doing! (although we have big appetites).

The staff were very friendly and made the stay comfortable for us.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on future.

We booked this hotel based on price, we did read the reviews and knew more or less what to expect.
The rooms are basic but more spacious than we have had elsewhere. They are exceptionally clean with daily housekeeping.

It’s the people that make this hotel. We had a few issues but the hotel manager couldn’t have been more helpful and offered solutions. Nothing was too much trouble in the hotel or the restaurant, for example, one evening was fish themed and staff checked with us at breakfast and offered alternative meals, which we appreciated very much.

All staff are beyond friendly and make the effort to remember everyone’s names, which we found to be a lovely and personable touch.

Great location for access to the slopes (we were just unlucky with the weather).

We have been staying in this hotel each time we come to ski for the past 15 years! The owner and manager Michele is an amazing person, as well as the rest of the staff - Carmello in the restaurant, Alex in the bar and all the other kind guys who will make your stay unforgettable. We love the half board here - you will feel like you are in Italy while skiing in the French Alps. Great food, wine and cocktails! The rooms are very comfortable, nothing fancy but so cosy! When there is enough snow, you can literally ski to the hotel. The sunset views are stunning. This family hotel really feels like home and we will come back with great pleasure!

Honestly- a bit dark and I was worried on arrival- low lights and a bit chilly but - the holiday was so affordable’ and what they lacked in luxury they made up for in care and warmth. I just needed to ask for the heating to be put up and it was done. This is a no frills place but was quiet and clean and the beds were SO comfortable. The staff take such pride in their roles - Great food and Carmello and the restaurant team went to great lengths to accommodate our wide ranging tastes on the half board menu. So much food! Alex the barman was awesome and so much fun - completely taking it all in his stride when an impromptu dance party broke out in his bar. (Delicious nibbles served with drink every evening). Sarah and Miguel on reception looked after all our requests and were really happy to chat and recommend.

If you want 5* luxury don’t go here but if you want a really great hotel in a fab location - that almost feels like you’re staying at a friend’s house - with a regular free shuttle to town and a ski lift extremely close by (ski in when there’s more snow), then this is an awesome option for the budget conscious traveller. I got lucky with a ground floor room but note you will have to carry everything upstairs if you’re in a higher level room as there are no lifts in the hotel.

Thanks to the awesome team for a great stay and great service all round. We had a brilliant time.

Room tip: Be prepared to carry luggage upstairs and assume you’ll need to carry to local bus pick up points too. Local taxis won’t do small journeys

Many thanks Michele for the warm welcome and daily care. It’s really not just a hotel, but a feeling of being at home. The owner of the hotel is a very attentive and sincere person. Dinners in the restaurant are varied and delicious. Dear Michele, I wish you many pleasant clients!
