Very accessible via the Grand Sur lift into the system, easy to manoeuvre around the different ski areas. Great location, ski rental shop underneath so easy to hire kit, plus handy locker for storing skis overnight. Plenty of space in the chalet - 2 families with large teenagers so the very long sofas were used for lots of lounging! Wifi worked well. Close to bars, restaurants and night clubs, also near the outdoor pool which was great fun and main shopping area. Easy to return from the slopes after skiing either by the lobster pots or a lift that brings you out by the tourist office - very straightforward. Loved the chalet and the staff - great showers, plenty of hot water, lots of space, loads of board games in the cupboards.
Our Chalet Host Henry was on it like a car bonnet. He was helpful, made tasty food, had a weird taste in women and had great beer-pong skills. George and Amy, our reps were more than happy to take us anywhere at any time, and were generally lovely people. Jack and Steph were super-helpful and always had a smile on their faces. Sarah is a great driver and was determined for us to have a good time. Steph M helped with the children just when we needed it. Thanks Zenith Team and we wish you the best of luck for the future.
Zenith provided the perfect holiday solution! Henry Bradshaw was our chalet host and what a service he provided with stress free meals of tasty dishes, and always a smile! George and Amie were our holiday reps, and they could not have done a better job of providing booked restaurants when needed, going on para glides etc. Sarah always on hand if we needed here, and Jack and Steph were the perfect compliment to our holiday. Can't thank Zenith and the team enough for the perfect holiday.
The chalet is actually an apartment in a shared building and the photos are very accurate. One thing photos can't show is how poor the sound insulation is. We were unlucky enough to have a bunch of louts above - in Hermione. That is a five bedroom apartment and we had 10 louts who made sure we got were kept awake every night but one. Our first night was punctuated with a 4am throw up from above over our balconies.
We asked Zenith to step in to try to get some form of noise curfew but they declined to assist. They ended up refunding a small part of our cost that in no way reflected how bad our sleep for the week was. In our group of 5 we had 3 recent graduates who were used to a fair amount of noise and late nights but this was ridiculous. The sound insulation is very very poor and we only slept when the people above finally went quiet - usually around 3am to 4am. We were pleased to check out and get some sleep.
The poor sound insulation and the bad luck with the idiots above ruined the week but if you are lucky and/or Zenith take a more proactive approach to ensuring the other tenants are reasonable then the apartment is good.
We self-catered and the kitchen has everything you need. The two showers were pretty good and the south facing balcony is great for the sunshine and views.
Wifi was good and generally everything in the apartment worked very well. The locker room is okay but there is one tiny bench so if all 30 odd people in the building of 3 apartments want to put on their boots at the same time it can be mayhem.
The location is okay - at the lower entrance to the village. The two intermediates in our group to ski away and back to about 200m away using the Grand Sure lift and piste. It is a fairly short walk to the chicken basket ride to the main slopes. Plenty of ski hire places withing easy reach. A good Casino supermarket just around the corner.
All in all our own week was ruined by a combination of idiots above us, very poor sound insulation and Zenith's hands off approach to managing issues.
If you are planning to book you need to know Zenith haven't book the group from hell above you or you'll only sleep when they do.
7 of us spent a week at Chalet Louis in Alpe d'Huez in early March. Not a bad word to say about Zenith or the way the team looked after us. From start to finish they were friendly, responsive, informative and fun to have around. Special mention to Steph (our chalet host), for relentlessly feeding us with varied breakfasts, delicious cakes and tasty dinners...we definitely didn't go hungry. And the wine was plentiful too. They also surprised us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate a special occasion - a really nice touch. As for the chalet itself, it's not luxurious but it is cosy and comfortable. More hanging/drying space for ski gear would be an improvement...but this is only a very minor gripe. The location is ideal - close to 2 lifts (1 of which is quick, taking you to one of the main areas, and always quiet), above a ski hire shop and a 10 minute walk to all bars and restaurants. There's also a nice bar and excellent restaurant (La Crem) 10 metres from the front door. All in all, a superb week, and no hesitation recommending Zenith and Chalet Louis for a great value week with great hospitality.
