Brilliant location, contained everything we needed

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Apr 2017
Clean when we arrived, reception staff very helpful, brilliant location - 2 min walk from ski lifts, shops, ski hire, restaurants etc. Room contained all crockery needed and plenty of blankets etc, only problem we had was the hot water runs out very quickly! But the heating is always on, the apartment was never cold. Didn't have a problem getting our deposit back, just make sure you clean up after yourselves! Perfect budget apartment.

So when we got information to pack towels, bed linen and even TOILETPAPER it was too late to cancel accommmodation.

When we arrived, we get small room for 3 people, but the problem was, that we were 5 persons in very very small place. Very small kitchen with leaking kettle and crazy kitchener. The heating was destroyed so they have to immediately repair it by replacing.

We have to buy everything. Kitchen towels, toilet paper and in case even washdisher tablets.

We have to check all equipment in the room and count every one spoon and cup.Where the hell you have to do such kind of stuff ?!

Reason is that by the checkout the management staff will cash you for items you forgot to mention, but you did not even use you them. We lost 200 EUR here in pocket of this cheap motel staff.

The door closing system is also very horrible. You have to be all the time scared about your items.

After your stay you have to clean whole apartment because there is no cleaning service.

Finally the "hotel" staff is very unprofessional, rude and angry.

All they want, is to get as much fine as they can from you! In case of discussion they are calling the Police !

So the summary is: NEVER MORE! PEOPLE PLEASE BEWARE! Only one advantage is, that this hotel is cheap. But it is not worth it. Who can go to France for very amazing skiing experience which will be ruined by this cheap motel? Please do not make this mistake.

Firstly i would like to confirm that i am not a Chalet dwelling snob who fancied roughing it for a week. I've been staying in budget accommodation for the last twenty years on my skiing trips and this is by far the worst i have ever come across.

I would describe the staff where horrendous, especially the battle axe who ,when checking us out, charged us 30 Euro's due to us apparently not mopping the kitchen floor. When we tried to discuss this charge with her she became very aggressive and threatened to call the police if we didn't pay (i do believe this is blackmail). I would of loved to discuss the extortion and blackmail with the police however our coach was about to leave, so i didn't have the pleasure.

I know for a fact that the floor was Mopped 3 times a day as the shower flooded: the bathroom, kitchen and the living room when it was used, this was mopped up on a daily basis after the 5 of us showered. While we're on the issue of the shower the the shower head didn't work as it was cracked and barely on the hose. Next we had to mop the floor after washing the dishes as dishwasher also leaked, thus flooding the kitchen again. Lastly whenever the sink was used to wash our hands/excess plates it also cause water to run out on to the kitchen floor. Hence my confusion as to "your bill will be 30 euro's due to floor being dirty".

The light in the only bedroom was hanging off the wall with exposed wires, so were a number of plug sockets, as you imagine this added some more adrenaline to our lovely holiday when half the apartment was flooded. When we notified the reception of the issues they stated that as the itinerary form wasn't returned to reception withing the fist 24 hours then we would be charged for any damage found in the room. Apparently the small poster on the back of the closed bathroom door clearly stated this. However after some discussion with them it came to light that a number of other rooms (more than 5) are having the same issue and that all they were willing to provide was a polyester blanket to soak up the water, it didn't by the way.

The linen that was provided included a, what i can only describe as paper, mattress sheet and pillow sheet (not a case) it was literally a sheet of thin paper with an elastic band. These provided no protection from the pubic hairs and other dirt left by the previous guests on the mattress. The "pillows" i use the term loosely as they were more like a small (again paper) sack of old cotton buds. I know this because i could see through the "pillow case" quite clearly.

I hope the above is sufficient in deterring you from this expensive prison cell. if so i would like to recommend the Hotel Apl'Azure where we stayed our last night.

I stayed here for one week as part of a University ski trip.
The room was on the ground floor and had a lovely view and balcony. The slopes were not too far either - 5 min walk. However:

1. there are pull out beds all over the place so that they can squeeze up to 7 people in, one minute bathroom only though, no storage. Prepare to camp.

2. no sheets - they provide you with nasty disposable bed 'sheets' instead and the pillows are just a square 'sheet'. So bring your own linen.

3. don't expect anything to have been cleaned before. Cutlery, dishes, mugs and pans have to be washed prior use as they have crud all over them. The loo and bathroom area have never been cleaned before. The kitchen worktop is rotten and the walls splattered with food.

4. hot water? An optional. Enough for two quick showers only so the other 5 people will have to brave cold water.

5. The staff. Rude. Arrogant. Clearly despise their guests to the point that you will often here them saying 'go back to your own country or I'll hit you'. They just want your money as you will see from point 6.

6. The discretionary fines.

There is a €20 fine pp for walking with your ski boots past reception. Even if you just make one step you get fined immediately on the spot and shouted at. From day 1. There is a small sign on the door but no mention of such a fine. Staff will even try to incriminate you without seeing you actually doing anything.

You get fined for having more items than in the inventory (??) and leaving a clean plate in the useless dishwasher can cost the whole room €50! So check your inventory upon arrival and get scrubbing when you leave as the slightest speck of dirt will hurt your wallet. Each room was fined €20-€120.

Rooms are far from clean upon arrival though so who knows what happens after.

A further note is that the 'ski deposit' is just a small wardrobe. Don't expect ski boots to fit in there or any boot drying.

P.S. Hotel may be cheap but there is a camper site nearby which seems far nicer if you are looking for a cheap stay.

You end up paying so many additional fines that your skiing experience gets ruined.

I wasn’t expecting much for the price I paid for the accommodation but the fact is that I did pay for it and for a payment I expect an adequate service.

The room was bad enough, disposable bed sheets which were probably marginally thinner than cheap toilet roll weren’t quite enough to cover the quite clearly never cleaned beds. To add to this, the room for 5 consisted of 2 people in the ‘lounge’ one on the sofa and one under it and 3 people in the bedroom, two on bunk beds and the other on the floor meaning the door couldn’t be opened or closed, pretty safe don’t you think?

On our day of departure we spent a while cleaning and ensuring the blankets we had used were folded and put back where they came from (So they could clearly be used again without being washed for other guests). When we went to get our deposit back the owner thought it would be a good opportunity to make a quick buck and make up a list of things that we had broken – which we hadn’t.

Overall – terrible place to stay, wouldn’t recommend

There were 5 of us sleeping in the floor space you would expect for 2 at a push which even included someone on and under the sofa.

They clearly never clean the place or wash any sheets. Sorry that's not strictly true, no sheets are provided to be washed anyway. They solely rely on the previous users to adequately clean the room and try as hard as they can to sting you if this isn't done properly. They even make up that you've broken or lost something to try and a make a quick Euro.

I know this is a budget option but it isn't free. I think you'd have a better stay committing a crime and spending the week in the slammer! At least you'd have a bit more space!
