Competed in La Marmotte

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 Aug 2018
Great place to stay when cycling as can keep your bikes in your room and have room to work on them if necessary.

It is a little basic but you have everything you need to be able to cook, serve and eat comfortably.

It is a short walk to the local shops.

Room tip: There is a hob and combined microwave/oven so just plan on simple meals if you are 'self-catering'. Bit of a trek to the first ski lift but exactly as advertised.

A ski break with Sunweb( for the second time) can only be recommended 100%.
It is not luxury but more than satisfactory. Great value for money, in fact I am not sure I could find anywhere to beat it. I would recommend Sunweb to anyone looking for a great value for money ski trip. Do read booking information carefully if you are arriving late at the accommodation. It was clear in the information but I nearly missed it (my fault entirely).

The hotel is cheap so do not expect any frills. We did not see a member of staff until we checked out on the last day. Reception never seemed to be open and we collected out key from a safe in reception due arriving late after a delayed flight. We were snowboarding from 8AM - 5PM every day and everything was closed up at other times. The room was correctly sized for 4 of us, however it was marketed as a 6 person room and this would have been uncomfortable. That being said it was exactly what we expected for the money we paid. If you are looking for a low budget place to sleep then it is great, but I would not recommend it for anything more.

Room tip: Top floor was quiet

The apartment I booked was sold as suitable for 6 people, the photographs were very cleverly taken to give the false impression of space and cleanliness. There were 4 of us and it was so cramped I had to move to other accommodation. The apartment was dirty, damp and needed TOTAL re-decoration and refurbishment. The 'kitchen' units, crockery and cutlery were old, worn out and mis-matched. The 'beds' apart from the two on the 'mezzanine' were uncomfortable, small and grubby. There was absolutely no privacy whatsoever in the apartment and very little space to store clothes and luggage.
I would definitely NOT recommend this place. AVOID.

We paid about £20 per night for our apartment and therefore came with low expectations; I was still disappointed!

The room was supposed to cater for four; there were only two of us and it was tight fitting bags and clothes.

Everything felt dirty and, as it's the responsibility of each user to do the clean on the way out, I'm not surprised! Beds, sofa etc are quite old and in poor condition which didn't help.

Also be aware that no bedding or towels are provided so bring your own or you can hire from the launderette at Galerie des 4 Soleils (the shops and bars at the top of the elevator outside the apartments). You are also provided with a limited cleaning set, but bring a sponge and washing up liquid etc. I'd also recommend anti-bacterial wipes so that you can be more confident of the surfaces!

Wifi is not free - we paid for the premium service which was 25 euros for the week; worth it as the tv wasn't working.

Access to the slopes was fair - there's a chair lift about a 5 / 10 min walk away that gets you to the main slopes. Walking to the main part of town takes 10/15 mins, but there's a smaller village centre a little closer which has some nice bars and restaurants.
