Comfortable, friendly hotel in great skiing location

Review of Hotel Le Dome
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Mar 2018
If you come to Alpe d'Huez to ski, Le Dome is in an ideal location, just a few minutes walk from the main lift.
Parking is easy - at the hotel or in the public car park opposite. Once parked, you can be assured of a warm welcome!
Our room was spacious and comfortable with a large bed, TV and a table and chairs to sit at (we had opted not to have a balcony as the weather was poor!). The bathroom was clean and well equipped - with a decent bath for a post ski soak.
The half board dinner was super - generally four courses (inc cheese and dessert), all well cooked and presented. One night we were offered a choice of raclette or fondue. It's been a while since i've had a fondue as i tend to think of them as heavy, but this was really good and served with a big salad and a generous plate of charcuterie - loved it! Breakfast was also good with a boil your own egg option.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and happy to let me practice my French on them!
It is not the prettiest hotel but when you are inside that doesn't matter! Our room overlooked the piste and our sleep was slightly disturbed by the noise of piste bashers driving past during the night - but that's the price you pay for being so close to the pistes. I think there are several rooms further from the piste which may well be quieter.

Hotel Le Dome is a small family-run hotel, with an ideal location at the bottom of the ski runs. The rooms are cosy and clean. In the morning a breakfast buffet is offered. In the evening you can either eat à la carte or you can choose the fixed daily menu. The fixed menu is always a four-course meal, prepared with the freshest ingredients and is delicious. I also recommend their fondue Savoyarde and Bourgignone. Yum! So in short, an excellent value for money hotel!

A return visit based on my experience last year! Well what a lovely welcome and a few personal touches for me made me feel both welcome and special!

We were here for Le Tour De France and the Alpe D'Huez Triathlon and to do some cycling.

Our bikes were securely locked away on the ground floor for easy access, there is pLenny of on site parking and even more oppositte!

With the shops and supermarket next door this is so convenient.

The hotel sits at the top of the mountain so you get great views every morning! It is quiet and cosy.

Free wifi and lots of super hot running water make you feel homely.

The staff are amazing, always attentive and very friendly, and even remembered a kettle in my room so I could make my tea!! ( Englishman needs his tea)

Stayed for two weeks and was sad to leave as I felt like I was one of the family

I will be back soon!!!

Booked this hotel for the Marmotte weekend (beginning of july). We chose this hotel based upon the reviews and the price.
Location was quite close to finish and also close to several nice restaurants.
Because of the cycling event a dedicated space for storing bikes was given.
When asking for a more secure storage location for my a bit expensive bike, the owner directly provided us with a secured room for our bikes.
Our room was located at the city-side of the hotel on the 5th floor, giving us a nice view over the city. The rooms are spacious enough and nicely decorated (suffcient storage). The bathroom is clean, well equiped and clean. Beds are a bit short (not being very tall) and the toilet is also not that big.
Considering the presence of a supermarket very nearby and some nice restaurants at walking distance made this hotel part of very nice weekend in Alpe d'Huez.

Quick 2 nights at the Dome visiting a daughter of a friend . Very friendly and helpful greeting - wifi connection offered immediately. Our 5th floor bedroom was fine,if a little tired, but had a great panoramic view of the resort from its balcony. The hotel ownership has been in the same family since the original property was built in the early 1900's - a source of considerable pride for the present owners - the old photographs show the massive development of both the resort and the hotel over the years. Breakfast is adequate and plentiful - we didn't eat an evening meal in the hotel.
