Alp 'Azur is perfectly located in Alpe D'Huez, within close walking distance to the shops and restaurants, and next to the cage lift (cost included in your lift pass) that takes you either to the lower town, or up to the start of the Signal lift. Perfect for skiing.
The superior rooms are well worth it, with a good amount of space, a lovely balcony with views over the resort to the mountains, and a welcoming bathroom. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the sheets are of very good quality. There is a kettle, and an excellent selection of herbal teas and instant coffee. If you like English tea, bring some bags and buy a bottle of milk at the supermarche (in winter it will keep cool on your balcony!).
I don't usually take breakfast, but the buffet was so good I did for the last 5 of my six days. Delicious dried fruits and cereals, yoghourt, eggs to soft boil "live", a small but superb selection of meats and cheeses, quiche, fresh bread, croissants and pastries, with good coffee and juice. If you want to ski through the lunch lift lull, you can after a breakfast like this.
Best of all is the kindness and service offered by the staff - led by the very lovely Severine. I wanted to ski on my last day, and catch the bus to Grenoble at 4. I was resigned to travelling in my ski gear - but no problem - I was offered a shower room to shower and change into my travel clothes in. Merci, Severine.
I'll be back at Alpe D'Huez as soon as I can - and I'll be staying at Alp D'Azur.

Room tip: Choose your room carefully - there are several kinds.

Visited again this year. New management - lovely and welcoming, updated decor in communal areas - much more choice at breakfast and a room that was perfect for our needs. Great views and locations with so many great places to eat and visit on the doorstep.

Superb! The team were always on hand on required and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were spotless, warm and ready even when we arrived early. We had a late departure time and wanted to ski on our last day, the hotel provided us with a bathroom and towels afterwards which was an excellent touch. Fantastic breakfast included as well!

This small, quaint hotel is in a perfect location for skiing. There is a basket lift 40m from the door which takes you to the main slopes with choice of further lifts to get higher. At the end if the day you can ski to within 15m of the hotel steps. There is a free ski locker room and another free heated boot room indoors. Our room was adequate with additional storage for all of ski gear. They called it a dressing room. If you like to make your own hot drinks you will need to bring a travel kettle. We did not pay extra for breakfast as it was €12 per person and was bread, cheese, ham and drinks only as far as I could tell. There are three supermarkets within walking distance and a patisserie. All had fresh bread and croissants on a daily basis. No evening food is sold at the hotel. There is a pretty lobby area but you are not allowed to have your own drinks there. There are restaurants dotted all around but expect to pay €20-€30 per person before drinks for a one course meal and one night we failed to find anywhere with room. It’s worth booking at the beginning of the week. There are a few takeaway food outlets, but these are sparse.

Friendly hotel that is very well-located for the town centre and lifts. Free parking on the street outside too. The owners were very welcoming.

Mountain-bike friendly with storage available in the entrance foyer.

Rooms were large and clean and breakfast was good.
