On a recent visit to Marseille, I decided to visit Cassis on the Cote D'Azur for a bit of beach time.
I chose this hotel because of the price and the location on a map. I honestly couldn't have been happier with the location, it's just off the village square where there is a fountain, cafés, the occasional market and the odd street musician. On top of that, it's literally around the corner (30 seconds) from the port and the beach.
The staff were very helpful and polite and always remembered my name and room number (it's one of those places where you give your key in before you go out, which isn't such a bad thing!). The hotel feels a little outdated, but the room was clean and had air conditioning, the bed was comfortable and fridge came in handy!

I'd be more than happy to stay again.

On reflection, due to the location of the place, if the hotel we're modernised I'm sure it would cost a whole lot more to stay there!!

Le Grand Jardin is located in the middle of Cassis. It takes 5mins max to get to the harbour and there are small shops and restaurants around.
The hotel itself isn't very new or fancy at all, there's no elevator, the room has a carpet which smells a bit funny (like wet dog) and the door to the toilet doesn't close properly.
But they have their own underground garage, the staff are VERY friendly and helpful, they have a nice garden and pretty fast Wifi connection. They would let us leave the car in the garage until we'd leave the city, also, I was allowed to use the internet even after checkout.

Don't come here if you're looking for a romantic getaway and are planning on spending more time inside rather than outside the hotel.
If you're looking for a convenient and friendly place to discover Cassis from without spending a fortune however, Le Grand Jardin is a good choice.

Very good location near the Cassis pier and near the quaint little square called Place de la Republique. Close to restaurants and shops on Victor Hugo and Quai des Baux. We found the facilities clean and adequate considering the price paid - Cassis can be pricey. We found a spot at a parking nearby with a bit of patience but Cassis can be very difficult when it comes to parking. Cassis is a beautiful seaside town but it can be crowded even when we went in September. Taking a boat to see the Calanques is a must when you are there - even better rent your own motor boat and stop where you want. The Calanques are an awewome sight not to be missed.

I tried to cancel a reservation two week in advance, in July when the hotel has no difficulty finding clients. The Hotel kept all the money and responded extremely unpleasantly on the phone. Definitely to avoid.
