The hotel could probably do with an update but we found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast as OK but the selection of breads could have been better - all the pastries seemed to have chocolate in them.

The only real downside was that some rooms seem to have a little balcony which occupants use for smoking and there was a frequent smell of cigarette smoke wafting up.

It is convenient for the ferries and if you are there for shopping most places are within a short drive. There are plenty of on street parking spaces outside.

Would stay again if we needed to be in the area again.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post this feedback about your stay.
We are pleased that you enjoyed so much of our hotel and appreciated our convenient location. Please accept our apologies for the unpleasant odour you experienced, since we are now a 100% smoke-free hotel inside the building our guests have to go outside. We are constantly trying to improve the variety and quality of food items that we offer on our breakfast buffet and have taken note of your suggestions. Thank you for mentioning how easy parking was around the hotel, however, if our guests prefer we do also have secure parking avaiable for 12.00€ a day.
We look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Calais. Best regards,
M. GAMBLIN C., General Manager

We stayed here for 2 nights on a shopping trip to France. This was our first time here as on previous occasions we had stayed at the Mercure which has now closed.Location is great for access to and from the ferry and to lots of restaurants within a short walk.Plenty of free parking in the street outside was a plus . Reception staff were helpful and when we had difficulty with the room lock they promptly changed the room.Rooms are clean,a good size compared with many similar class of hotels, beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet. The only "could do better" was the shower which was a basic attachment to the bath taps and needs updating.Happy Hour in the bar was a nice touch.Breakfast comprised a wider choice than many hotels in France and everything was kept replenished.

Arrived at the Holiday Inn exhausted after a long journey and very hungry. Sat at the restaurant down stairs to experience the worst service and then topped by the horrific food. The food was expensive and seeped in oil. The "Thai noodles" are a pot noodle hidden in ice berg lettuce. The risotto was vomit on a plate and chicken in curry sauce was just inedible. The service was slow and rude. They spoke and laughed about us and when we complained about the food they couldn't care less.

The rooms are a good size but when you open the taps you can smell sewage. Definitely needs refurbishing. Very expensive for what you receive.

New chef is needed...

Stayed here 1night 2 rooms
Parking easy and free
Rooms were 1 x twin 2x doubles

The rooms on the no smoking floor just stunk of smoke. Hugely unacceptable with kids
Manage it by putting smoke alarms + fines.
Rooms are tired look dirty
Food was poo
Needs to be demolished..

Took grandchildren on a 4 day trip to Calais and stayed in a family room overlooking the harbour. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and hotel itself was very clean and tidy. Free car parking on the road outside the hotel. The hotel is in an ideal position near to the beach, restaurants and bars. Will use again on next trip over.
