Bagnoles is a very pretty, if small, spa town in Normandy. It was purpose built around the early part of the 20th century and is mostly built in Belle Epoque style, although not all of it has been well preserved. It has a lovely lake, casino and a town square with a fountain, and bars/restaurants around it.
The hotel is bang in the middle on the square. Easy parking at the hotel, but limited. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The decor is a little dated and needs a bit fo a refresh, but it was clean and very good value. We had trouble with the Booking.com site as it said we had booked a twin room, but they only had doubles. They made an effort to put us in a family room at the same price.
Breakfast was a bog disappointment and not cheap (as seems to be the way everywhere we went in Normandy). Come on, somebody open a greasy spoon with full English for 7 euros and you'll make a killing.More
