On a cold damp day, this restaurant was very welcoming for lunch with friendly staff. We had onion soup with croutons and cheese, the fish of the day which was cod in a leek sauce and lovely chips and apple tart. The wine list was more than adequate and we had a half bottle of Alsace Pinot Noir.
The only downside was that the toilets were up on first floor which you need to be aware of if you have mobility issues.

We usually visit Boulogne twice per year for two nights and always make sure we dine at Le Swan on one of the nights.

The lady waitress (owner?) is very friendly and efficient and makes a mean G&T aperitif. The starter of stuffed mushrooms is one of my favourites - simply mushrooms with melted maroilles cheese - delicious.

There's a good selection of main courses. Many restaurants simply serve their main courses with chips, but at Le Swan you can ask for potatoes and vegetables instead - and very nice they are too. The lady joked that they always serve chips for the English!

Good selection of wines and desserts - highly recommended. We'll definitely return (not open Mondays though).

Disappointing lunch taken from the 20e menu. Calamari tasted like the frozen and fried type that you give kids, steak was cold and tough - not actually sure how chef could have got it so wrong but the crème brulee was pleasant. Bread was tasteless but butter was lovely. Maybe we chose badly off the menu but won't be returning and don't recommend.

What a lovely reception we got as we entered. The waitress could not speak English and our French is basic, but we were able to have a laugh and a joke with her. We had the 20 Euro menu each. Three courses and all brilliant. Lots of restaurants in the old town but this is one of the best.

We had a superb dinner here on a Sunday night when many other restaurants in the town were closed. It was superb. We both ate from the 20 euro menu, both had fish soup and then one steak cooked perfectly and one perfect boeuf bourguignon. Both were served with perfect chips and we had a very nice bottle of wine, all at a very reasonable price.
