Great location and accommodation. We had a small issue with payment as we had an extra person which I didnt think should cost any more as we booked the entire house. The booking mechanism doesn't make this obvious. Apart from that would recommend.
We were a family group of 8 adults and we stayed at this great house for 2 nights in May 6 stayed in the main house and my wife and I stayed in the garden room it was 5 star we had no complaints, it was a short walk to town (Arras) and a great Base for visiting WW1 war memorials, we will definitely return !!!
Our group of four adults used this beautiful home as our home base for touring WWI sites in Northern France and Belgium. The home is easy to reach by car or public transport. It is a short walk to the train station, central Arras, buses, groceries, bakery, etc. There is secure parking available for a car as well. The owners' description of this property is accurate. All the rooms are spacious. The beds are comfortable and there are lots of accessible plugs for charging electronic devices. Large windows throughout the home allow for good lighting and ventilation. All are equipped with shutters and/or drapery for privacy as required. We had access to two of the three bedrooms for our stay. In addition to the ensuite bathrooms, there is a room with a toilet on the main floor. The kitchen is well equipped. The garden space was wonderful for enjoying meals or just relaxing. The owners were friendly and helped to ensure we had a wonderful stay. One recommendation would be to provide guests with hand soap in the bathrooms.
We spent 4 nights in this beautiful French gite on Rue de la Republique, in Arras, with all the comforts of home. The booking process was seamless and Gerald was very responsive to our email inquiries in the lead up to our visit - and gave easy to follow directions which were really helpful in finding our way. Valerie was very welcoming and friendly on our arrival showing us around and providing info on a local boulangerie and and the wonderful LeClerc supermarket nearby.
The house was very comfortable and well equipped. We had wonderful weather and were able to take advantage of the spacious garden for relaxing after daily touring. Arras is a charming town and the town centre was only about ten minutes easy walk from the house. Histoire de Maison was also a perfect base for exploring the Western Front Battlefields We had a fabulous stay and would love to return some day. Thank you Gerald and Valerie.
