Pascale, the owner, was incredibly friendly and helpful, went out of her way to find a high chair for our toddler, and arranged for someone to receive us and give us the keys late at night (our train was delayed due to a strike).
The apartment is two floors up, in an old house recently renovated. Everything was very clean and neat. Old houses do come with creaky floors.
Right across the little street from the apartment is Halles des Lices, with fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and fish every day. There are four or five bakeries within 50 m of the apartment, also a little supermarket (Casino, doesn't look like a supermarket from the outside!). The historic downtown area is not very large, so everything is in easy walking distance, including many good restaurants.
The negative aspect of being downtown is the noise. A bar next door was showing World Cup football matches, and there was partying outside our window till 2am on the night that France played.
