We stayed here for 2 nights at Hogmanay 2016, we loved the setting and friendly welcome we received from the manager Paul who showed us round.

The lodges are well appointed and modern, spotlessly clean and an ideal base for exploring Oban and the local area. Great for couples and families.

Sad to leave so soon but we will def return in the summer months.

We used this as a lodging when we travelled to Oban for a family get together. The lodge (Ash) was warm and cosy and well equipped. The grounds are well maintained and clean. A car is essential. Lagnakeil would make a fantastic base for exploring this lovely part of Scotland. Oban is only a short drive away and provides all modern facilities as well as being the ferry port for trips to the southern Hebrides.

Very comfy beds, 2 toilets in a 6 bed chalet (always useful) with beautiful views. Had the heating on and completely understand why this is charged extra. Some people will leave heating on full blast when they go out for the day without thought of the cost implication to the owners, as guests often used to do when abroad with their air conditioning. Its exactly the same principle and probably why hotel key card works on shutting it all down when guests leave the room. Just my personal take on it ,shame this seems to overshadows the good points in some reviews. Although we ate out every night, I did see that our cabin was well equipped with all the necessary pans etc. Not always the case in my experience. As a cabin rather than hotel, I thought it was really pretty good ( one of the best we have been to) and do expect to return and do some of the walks straight from the lodges which was not on the agenda for this short break. Can't say fairer than that! Only downside was that the original green shack on Oban harbour front selling seafood was closed for winter! Oh and the wifi did work for us but I only went on for a few minutes anyway.

Room Tip: Conifer lodges 6 and 7 are very situated

Lagnakeil is in a truly beautiful part of Argyll, which is saying something because this part of the world is very pretty wherever you look. Every morning when opening the curtains we would see the view over the Loch and the surrounding hills. It was very quiet and peaceful, and our cabin soon felt like home.

Some people commented on the electricity being charged, but having stayed there in the winter I understand it -- there are some very cold nights when you do need to put the multiple electric heaters on, and if you left them on all day as well then you'd rack up a pretty big bill for the owner. This isn't a big hotel with an efficient gas central heater.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here again, especially for families -- even our family of 6 fit in the cabin no problem.

This was our second visit to Lagnakeil and we loved it just as much as the first. This time the view from both sides of the living room was perfect.
I have read reviews from other people and I can understand some of the mild criticism but if you want luxurious furnishings, super fast wifi etc. then this isn't the place for you and I suspect you would have to pay a lot more for it. We paid more for a cottage 4 years ago than we did for this lodge in the same 2 weeks. As for adding on the electricity as extra. We were aware of this so it didn't come as a surprise and even though we cooked almost every night and had the heating on occasionally, it was only £11 for the 2 weeks.
The location is brilliant for exploring the surrounding area and although there were only 2 of us, there is plenty to do for families.
