The hotel is about halfway between Sorrento and Naples and has parking so that visitors have easy access by car (ONLY) to all attractions in that area for those who do not want to move from one hotel to the other. However, it should be considered that the roads in the area are very bad and driving at them is difficult and takes much more time than driving elsewhere.
Visiting Capri is very easy while staying at the hotel, since it is adjacent to a port from which a ferry leaves to Capri at 08:00 am and departs Capri at 17:15 backwards.
The rooms in the hotel are small and crowded and the shower is really small and uncomfortable. Yet, the rooms are clean and equipped with an electric kettle.
The hotel has a lift so handling suitcases is easy. The hotel staff is welcoming and helpful as needed.
Breakfast was excellent and included good-order coffee, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, cold cuts, vegetables, cereals, yogurt and a selection of fresh and delicious cakes and cookies.

We have just returned from a 3 night break at this lovely little hotel. The location was a perfect base for us to visit Sorrento, Capri (ferry pretty much 100 yards from the hotel entrance) and Pompeii as we had planned. The staff were all very friendly and helpful (especially Lucina who we dealt with most). The room we had (room 3) was quite compact but had everything we needed for our stay, including a nice balcony with sea-views. Breakfast was varied and always fresh.

I would certainly recommend using the free shuttle service that the hotel provide to travel to/from the train station as it is a very steep climb/decent to the hotel from Vico Equense or Seiano train station.

If we were to return to this part of the world we'd certainly use Le Ancore as our base again.

We stayed for 7 nights at this fantastic little hotel and were very sorry to leave. Everything is spotlessly clean and the decor gives a bright, fresh feel. The staff are the greatest asset with every one of them happy to go the extra mile to please their guests. It’s the only hotel we have been to where the receptionist greeted us at the door as we arrived and came to see us off at the end of our week there. It was a wonderful gesture which made us feel very valued. Breakfast was fantastic, with everything you would expect, cheese, ham, good bread, fresh fruit, pastries and the best coffee! Arriving by bus from Naples we arranged for the shuttle bus to collect us at the train station. Going home we had a private transfer, which the hotel arranged for us - much quicker and less stressful than the bus. The shuttle bus is an absolute boon. We tried to use public transport a few times, but I can honestly say that it is the worst bus service I have ever encountered, with buses cancelled without notice. A quick call to the hotel and the shuttle bus was there in no time to rescue us. Trains are more punctual, crowded and not the cleanest, but at 4 euro return to Sorrento it’s a bargain. The hotel bar and restaurant opposite serves excellent food with great service and the best Aperol Spritz I have tasted. There are other excellent local restaurants and we would highly recommend Mustafas for good food, friendly service and reasonable prices. We opted to pay for the private beach one day and would recommend it, just for the sun beds. The restaurant inside the beach complex was a pleasant surprise, if a little pricey. We didn’t get to see everything on our list, so a return visit may be in the offing and Le Ancore will definitely be our first choice of hotel.

Had a fantastic stay in le ancore hotel. Only 8 rooms but a fantastic hotel. The staff are the main reason for this, Lucina on reception couldn't do enough for us, always there to help. Giuseppe the porter the same and Maria the cleaner done a top job. It's a bit out of town but ran a shuttle bus to get you up there when needed. If getting the bus from Naples, ring the hotel from the train station where the bus stops and get them to collect you from there, we made the mistake of walking and had to suffer about 500 steps down a cliff. Can not rate this hotel highly enough. A little gem with great staff and a beautiful location. Really, don't hesitate to book this hotel.

Having been at expensive hotels in Positano and Capri 2 years ago, we decided to seek a small hotel on a port from where we could visit all other sites easily. We stayed 6 nights, and did day tours to Positano, Capri, Naples, and Pompeii.

Le Ancore was perfect. With only 8 rooms it is a very cosy hotel, clean, wonderful views over the Bay of Naples, large rooms (ours had two balconies), and an excellent breakfast of pastries, fresh fruit, small goods and good bread, which we enjoyed on the terrace.

The staff, especially Lucina, are wonderful - helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating (e.g. twice they set up breakfast early for us). They also have a good arrangement with a neighboring hotel with a private (still crowded, but pleasant) private beach.

Other than the marina bars, there's not that much night life, but that wasn't a problem since Italians eat late and we usually staggered home happy to only have to walk a few meters.

Marina d'Aequa is a brilliant location, almost exclusively visited by Italians. Ferries go daily to Positano, Amalfi, Naples, Sorrento and their are excellent private tour boats that go to and around Capri for 90 euros and to Positano and Amalfi for 110 euros.

TIP: getting there with luggage by train and bus from Naples can be long, crowded and hot. Next time we will hire a car to collect us in Naples and drive direct to the hotel (which is what we did on the way back)

There are also wonderful restaurants, such a Mustapha's, where we ate daily because it was so good (try any pasta dish, the octopus salad, or the fresh seafood), and the absolutely outstanding Torre de Saraceno 2 star Michelin restaurant, which compares very well to 3 start restaurants in New York (separate review). The small pizza bar opposite the hotel is also remarkable value for really good pizzas.

Room tip: The corner rooms have two balconies
