We enjoyed our stay here. The apartment is well fitted out, clean and very comfortable. Staying in the old part of town is good. Walk to bars, cafes, shops and restaurants just down the street. We'll miss the evening drinks whilst watching the locals walk up and down the Main Street. Katy and Steve are very helpful hosts. They have put a lot of thought into making your Italian holiday a success. I would go as far to say they would be our best hosts.
We planned this holiday more than 12 months ago and have been communicating with Katy from that time. She has always been honest, prompt and extremely helpful and thoughtful. This did not abate one single bit whilst we stayed in Sulmona. NOTHING is a bother which is comforting when you are travelling to/staying in a foreign country with limited knowledge of the language. The apartment appeared larger to us than what is shown in the photos. Everything you could want for self catering and a comfortable stay is there. We have stayed in many Airbnb's across Australia and other parts of Italy and Katy's provisions are extremely generous and the apartment will not leave you wanting. The views from all the windows are lovely. There are 53 steps up to the apartment with level sections walking along 2nd floor to break up the climb. There are also 8 steps leading down to the front door. Easily done! Simply condition your legs before your trip and you will be able to walk up the many wonderful streets throughout Italy during your holiday with ease. The location is perfect too. Not far at all from bars, restaurants, confetti, grocery and fashion stores. We'll certainly be happy to stay with Katy again when next we visit Sulmona! Thanks again Katy!
Apt exceeded our expectations. Fully stocked with everything you need. Owners even provided us with a beach kit (chairs, umbrella, etc..). Owners Steve and Katie are extremely knowledgeable of the Abruzzo Region (and Rome). They will go out of their way to accommodate you and to provide guidance for what to experience and when (including cooking classes). This is the place to book if you choose to explore central Italy.
The flat at 29 Gramsci, Sulmona, is elegantly furnished and extremely convenient with a fully equipped kitchen and two very comfortable double bedrooms. It is located in a beautiful Baroque palazzo in the centre of this historic town centre.
Sulmona, though not very well known to British visitors, is a charming and beautiful small town. It is lovely in its own right but also very near to the Abruzzo national parks (with excellent skiing in season) and beaches on the Adriatic coast. It is only an hour and a half drive from Rome.
The British hosts live in another accommodation in the same palazzo and are on hand to sort out any issues and also to offer excellent advice and support for visitors wanting to take advantage of local attractions.
We stayed for four nights with Katy and Steve in their beautiful apartment. It was clean, light and wonderfully furnished. Sulmona and the Abruzzo has so much to offer the inquisitive traveler. We will undoubtedly be back.
