This was a wonderful experience. We're happy to have found it, as our hotel didn't even mention that there was a Michelin-starred restaurant less than a mile away!
The dining room is very intimate - there are only five tables, so during the high season it must be challenging to get a reservation. We dined here during the first week of October, so it was just ourselves and another tourist couple. It has the potential to be a little uncomfortable due to the individual attention and the quietness of the room, but we enjoyed it.
The food was excellent. Neither of us had ever dined at a Michelin-starred restaurant, so we had definitely built it up a little in our minds, but we were not disappointed. We were served a pair of amuse bouche that we both admitted we would never have tried on our own if it weren't dropped in front of us - a small amount of beef tartare robed in tomato gelee, and a "fake" sea urchin filled with uni and lemon cream. We both enjoyed the tastes very much and were happy to have been gently pushed outside of our comfort zone.
The rest of the dinner was no different. I won't go into too much detail here, as the hotel and restaurant will be closing later this month and the menu will surely be different next season, but judging by the quality of both of our choices of a la carte entrees, it would be hard to go wrong. We also received a bread course.
We ordered a dessert, which was phenomenal-tasting and very creative, but if you're feeling full, I would caution against ordering anything, because they also brought us a selection of truffles and petit fours that we could not even finish.
The service was also wonderful. You can tell they place top priority in making guests feel comfortable and catered to, and creating an experience many people will not have had before.
I also should note that this is probably one of the most affordable meals of this caliber you could expect to find anywhere, not least of all in a heavily-touristy area. We were very pleasantly surprised when the check arrived.
