Description: In addition to the San Marco gate, the gateway to the historic center, just steps from the lake, a building of six hundred houses the restaurant Al Volt. Run by the Poli family since 1965, owes its name to the times that frame the entire room. Miriam and Sylviane will be glad to accompany between red and white, the soft light of the bedside lamp and candles, among the reflections of the mirrors. From the kitchen you can taste traditional dishes, a mix balanced between lake and land a modern twist by Maurizio and Tonina.

We had such a nice meal our second eve in Riva we cancelled other reservations to return and boy were we glad we did. Another family run and owned place makes a difference. In fact one of the wait still is working here because his girlfriend is a grand daughter. The cellar restaurant decor is white wash with crocheted red place mats and red glasses. But the food makes the place. We had shrimp salad and carpaccio of cod for antipasti; spaghetti with cheese and truffles, a fish ragout on spaghetti and scallop linguine. Fish was alpine trout, tuna and meats were veal and lamb. The servers were great, the sommelier guided us to wonderful local wine and grappa. And then the fruit sorbets brought to the table were amazing. If you are in a Riva, don't eat any where else but In this rwhite and red palace.

Amazing food, presented beautifully. It's a place to splurge and felt quite formal. Complimentary soup was given to start and Brownies to die for were complimentary at the end- a lovely touch.
All of our dishes were lovely and the vegetarian options were delicious too.
Not much for the kids but they were very accommodating and made some spaghetti for them which was so tasty and fresh. We would have loved to spend longer here but the kids wouldn't have sat a table for that long! Well worth the visit it is pricey though.

We were attracted by the unusual red and white decor of Ristorante Al Volt. Seemed a bit pricy, but the pleasant welcome persuaded us to stay. Extra amuse-bouches; smaller portions but very well presented; who needs to eat a lot late in the day? The friendliness and humor of the young waiters rounded off a fine evening. Later we noticed the Michelin logo - makes sense.

The many very positive reviews hardly do this restaurant justice. Dinning is both inside and (more preferable) outside. Staff possibly the most professional and friendly we encountered during our trip. Food exceptional including the widely commented upon sorbet (I won't comment further but order it). We'll definitely make a return trip.
