We have just come back from a great holiday. Hotel Cerere was lovely, all staff very welcoming, we spent time around the pool everyday. It was so nice to be waited on in restaurant, and food was excellent. Having read some reviews before we went away, we did not know what to expect, but nothing was to much trouble for the staff, the receptionist helped us organise days out, and book meals in surrounding area, you do need to have a basic knowledge of the language, as there is not a lot of english spoken outside of the hotel.

Room tip: Corner rooms with L shaped balcony

Booked through Fleetway Travel ,
most of the facilities shown on the Hotel website we were unable to use because 6 out of the 7 days there were wedding receptions and other functions using all the facilities. The Pool could only be used part of the morning and from usually 4pm to 6pm if we were lucky as the wedding receptions were held around the pool and all the beautiful seating was only brought out for them and taken away after there use, No facilities around the pool when we were allowed to use it and during out alloted time at least 6 to 10 people around doing maintenance and preparing for the weddings and functions. This has been reported to Fleetway as this is not a suitable hotel for holiday makers but there reaction was that they do not have any control over private events that Hotels hold and they would not be advised by the hotels.
We have now advised them of the serious draw backs for holiday makers so I assume that they will not be recommeding this as a holiday hotel.
We sent a full report to Fleetway we have used Fleetway in the past and had exceptionall good outcome from previous holiday which made this all the more unacceptable it is very hard to have a relaxing holiday when over the whole week we were like univited guests ,dressed in holiday gear at very expensive wedding functions.

We spent in Italy more than 2 weeks in few different places but this hotel was the best. Very original architecture, big and clean swimming pool, nice garden in Residence part, everything was on high level, but the best part of the hotel were people. We travel a lot but we have never spent holiday in such a good atmosphere. Everyone wanted to help us and make our holiday unique. And they did.

Room tip: For families I recomend Residence Cerere because there is quiet. There is no salt and pepper in the kitchen and things to wash dishes.

We arrived at Naples airport after booking our 7 day holiday with Fleetway Travel. We had a very early flight from Gatwick, having to get up at 2.30am for a 6am flight (not very convenient at all) and so we were very weary. We thought we would be able to get to the Hotel early and chill out by the pool if our room wasn’t ready. Well, we had to wait three hours at the Arrivals area for other guests who were arriving on different flights. Nowhere to sit in comfort on a very hot day.
We finally got to our Hotel (Cerere) and we were delayed in Reception and given a “welcome drink” like an afterthought and then left alone to our own devices. When we asked to be shown to our room, we discovered an electrician in there fixing the light – so we still couldn’t unpack and relax. There also wasn't much space to put clothes in the wardrobe either. That was one of the days of our holiday wasted. I am very well travelled and this was not one of my easiest/nicest experiences.
It became apparent by the 2nd day that the pool was just a status symbol. The Hotel had weddings staged poolside every day except Monday and the pool was closed from 12.30 onwards. We could walk down to the beach, but I think it is ridiculous having a pool fronting their website if guests can’t take advantage of it when they like\need to. Why would wedding guests want to be by it anyway? It’s not like they are going to use it. Such a waste of a valuable facility.
There are no useful freebies at Hotel Cerere. No free water in the rooms on a hot day. No tea and coffee making facilities. They did have free wireless internet, but it is a poor signal area.
Although the ruins in Paestum are a sight to behold and really worth visiting, there is not much else in Paestum. The train station is a 45 minute walk from the Hotel, which is tiring on a hot day and the road is narrow and partially without footpaths, being a very rural area. The Hotel must have some kind of deal with a Taxi company (dark blue cars) they use because the Taxi’s charge 12 Euros PER PERSON, to take you to the train station. We realised the best thing to do was get a local Taxi firm to pick us up and so eventually got a card for a local company who charged us 10 Euros for both of us.
The waiters in the dining room barely spoke any English and often had to go and get someone from Reception to translate because they couldn’t be bothered to try and understand. There were two extremely helpful and hardworking bar staff who tried very hard to make our stay as pleasant as possible – and they succeeded, to a degree. We were very thankful for that. But the food menu is strange, too. You have to tick off your food choice on the menu for the following night – just like in hospital! You might not feel like it the next day…and there is only two or three choices on the menu, It could all be done so much better. Only one choice of dessert.
Also, be aware that you will have to pay a City Tax (1.50 Euros per day) while you are there. You can call it a Tourist Tax – because they will get you anyway, if they can’t get you for City Tax.
So…Hotel looks great on their website, but because of location, if you want to see the Amalfi Coast for example, you would be better off staying nearer to Salerno and booking a Hotel where you can use the pool on a hot afternoon.

Room tip: Better Standard (they call them "Elegance") rooms are corner ones with an L shaped balcony.

Hotel Cerere is a beautiful place go to stay.
Staff absolutely superb, nothing is to much trouble from the room maids ,reception , restaurant staff and the owners. BUT it is a wedding venue and not a restful holiday. You must be aware that the hotel is set like a film set with the hotel being reset for each wedding. So constantly and quietly the set is changed arlund you. Not once did we see anyone in the pool, we felt we would disturb the constant viewings. The private beach is great. But its a long walk away. I feel that the amazing offers are to fill the few rooms that are not in use by the bridal parties. We didnt know where we were eating. Breakfast was very noisy while in a huge elegant room. What I'm saying is do your research carefully.
