Just home from a four night stay at Hotel Venezia with my partner. We had a great stay. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were great with directions on how to get to Venice and provided us with maps.
Rooms - not huge but not too small either, just the right amount of space. There is air con for warm and cool air. Beds are comfy enough and the pillows were lush. There are spare blankets for the bed if needed. We had a shower over a small bath, there are toiletries and a hairdryer. I’d take your own hairdryer if you have long or thick hair, mine took a while to dry! Rooms and bathrooms are basic but clean and we had everything we needed. Cleaners came in daily, made the bed and replaced all the towels. Walls are thin, if you’re a light sleeper you might want ear plugs. Didn’t stop us sleeping and it’s not exactly in a lively, loud area.
Breakfast - there’s a coffee machine, juice and a variety of tea bags. Fruit, yoghurt, cereals, milk, bread for toast, rolls, cheeses and hams, hard boiled eggs, a variety of different croissants and pastries. There’s plenty there and it was all really nice.
Location - about 20 mins from the airport on a bus for €10. About 15/20 mins from Venice via the tram (you can also get a bus). We got return tickets daily from reception for €3. There are also multi day options that cover unlimited travel and also include the water bus but we enjoyed walking everywhere in Venice. The bus and tram stops are a few minutes walk from the hotel. There are some restaurants and bars around the hotel - we had a nice meal at the Garden Grill but our favourite meal in Mestre was at Fratelli La Bufala. There’s a nice bar called Napa that has a lovely courtyard with patio heaters. All a couple minutes walk from the hotel.
It’s not the Ritz, but you get what you pay for. Hotel Venezia was the perfect base for us to explore Venice, good value and would recommend.
