Almost perfect

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Aug 2024
Great hotel for easy access to Venice. The building looks great and is reasonably modern. Well located around a 20min walk from the station but with shops and restaurants less than a 10min walk away. Has a supermarket round the corner. The is a bar and restaurant onsite but if you like Japanese food, there is a restaurant across the road.

There are bus stops outside the hotel giving access to Venice every 30mins throughout the day until around 7pm. After that requires a 7-8min walk to bus stops that have buses running all night.

We had a suite with separate bedroom. It was huge and comfortable. Air con was perfect too.

Overall, a great stay. The only thing that would make this perfect would be if it had a pool.

The hotel was lovely - very clean however,
1. it was extremely hot and the air did not work well at all. It was 78 in the room, front desk told us it was hot outside so that is why it is hot. They did give us a fan, but again the room temperature was 78. Would not recommend to stay there during warmer months
2. went to dinner at the hotel - food was good, service was not. Waited almost 10 minutes for water for the table and after being outside in the heat - we all were looking forward to water - I had to go and ask someone. There were not many people eating so it being crowded was not an issue.

We booked this hotel as we had an extended stay in the Venice area. We arrived prior to check in and we were able to store our luggage (four pieces) whilst we explored Venice.

The first room allocated had very minimum storage space despite the fact that reception must have been aware that this room would be unsuitable for our needs. Subsequently after visiting the check-in desk we were allocated another room which was adequate. This issue was professionally handled.

The only issue we had with our room was the bathroom. The shower was over the bath but unfortunately the bath did not have an anti slip surface and neither did it have a shower mat. This dangerous situation was brought to the attention of the check-in desk. They acknowledged that they knew this was a problem and when asked if they could provide a suitable shower mat they advised that they did not have any. They were further asked if one could be purchased and they declined this request also.

Another concern was the design of the shower screen. The shower screen rested on the edge of the bath and water ran off the screen onto the floor causing a dangerous slippery floor as the bath mat was saturated.

We were on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast was adequate, what you can expect from a continental breakfast.

The hotel was devoid of atmosphere. There were very few public seating areas. The bar was soulless.

The hotel is a ten minute walk to the nearest bus stop to take you into Venice.

Would we stay there again… definitely no.

Ones a nice hotel, the property is very warn and outdated (not the standard we have become used to for NH unfortunately). Exceptional nice underground garage and short bus/tram ride to Venezia, but otherwise not much positive to tell. Simple breakfast, poor bar, very basic dishes in restaurant (no others in close proximity), bare minimum gym without anitbac to clean machines (no pool) and lack of customer appreciation by hotel staff. Rooms really old, and unfortunately lots of ANTs in ours. We where promised a room change after the ants attack, but they decided to sprayed some poison while we where out and told us that would be good enough (and not to worry that the kids had to sleep in poison !?!). Not a hotel we would return to in close future (would rather choose one of the other good new and modern alternatives nearby).

Run from this hotel. Awful in all respects. If you like air conditioning in the summer and enjoy your room to be cooler than 77-80 degrees, DO NOT STAY HERE. I have to stay here for work and the a/c never works. They give every excuse under the sun. Rooms are run down and management couldn’t care less. Many other options in Mestre and Venice. Inconvenient to get to and from Venice. Have stayed at many NH hotels worldwide and this is the worst. Should be removed from the NH brand and not allowed to operate as a modern day hotel. No USB outlets in rooms and plugs are in obscure places. Very immature and non seasoned staff. Just awful!

Room tip: Avoid this hotel at all costs

We stayed here for 10 days and I have to say our experience was exactly what we had hoped for. It was close to the venue we wanted. The breakfast was well catered and filling. The room was spacious for 2 and air conditioning worked a charm. At 37 degrees it was a life line. Our room was cleaned daily and when we asked for extra considerations that was met with no problem. We ate at the restaurant and enjoyed the food. I thoroughly enjoyed the quiet reflective time i had sitting by the canal watching the fish. On numerous occasions we were served or observed Michael and his attention to detail was impeccable. He works extremely hard and does this with due diligence and quiet regard. We can't help but think he is an asset to this hotel and should have this recognised. The hotel is lovely however there are signs it is no longer up to its former glory. Mind you it still ticks many boxes but for the premium price tag there should be reflections made by senior management. With the level of airline crew who stay here and the opposite building across the canal appearing to be empty there are issues that need to be addressed. Overall our stay was pleasant and again Thank you Micheal for your attention to detail.
