Review of Bar Enal

Bar Enal
Ranked #77 of 112 Restaurants in Malcesine
Price range: US$5 - US$10
Description: Bar Enal, situated within the Palazzo dei Capitani complex in the town centre, is an Italian working men's club despite having the appearance of a British Pub once inside. There's a small garden at the rear of the bar, overlooking the lake. We serve snacks, traditional Italian Bruschette, many types of toasted sandwich, and freshly baked rolls. If you're tired of pizza and pasta, try our Chip Butties, or Cottage Pie, even Beans on Toast! Everything is freshly prepared while you wait so if we make you wait for your food, we hope you'll understand.Lager, Guinness, and Newcastle Brown Ale are all on draught and there's a good selection of bottled beers, and CIDER! We serve Tetley Tea, Yorkshire Tea and PG Tips, in proper teapots! We have a 4.5M video screen and show some Brtish sporting events (some Premier league football)on Italian TV, N.B. WE DO NOT HAVE SKY! We are one of the few bars that are open all year round, we normally close on Fridays but are open 7/7 from October to April. Just the right place to drop in for lunch. We serve food from 11:30 until 15:30. Free wi-fi service for guests. Please note, as we are a working men's club, small children, and loud rowdy stag or hen party groups are not welcomed. Sorry, that's how it is. Coach groups welcome, but with 24 hours notice please. Bar Enal. Via Capitanato 2. 37018 Malcesine. VR. Your hosts are Bob & Jeanne (Jeanie).

We sailed across from Limone Sul Garda for a day out. Walked all over, enjoying the lovely Malcesine and stumbled across this really lovely quirky cafe. Enjoyed our teas and cakes all for a “princely” sum of €6! Bargain. Very relaxed atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle outside, just what we both needed. What a gem of a place. We can echo all the other positive reviews here on TripAdvisor. If you’re in the area, well worth popping in. You won’t regret it.

We just had to call in to see what had changed after all these years , This quaint little bar is used by local people to play cards and read and meet, plus it's for any body who can be bothered to walk up the steps to it. The owners have not changed since our last visit and still do toasted sandwiches and a drink in a meal deal. My wife had soup and bread which was a lovely change . It's great just to sit here relax and watch English TV. Open only until early evening though .

We liked this little bar when we went in, even politely enjoyed the mug of tea we had despite the fact we asked for coffee......what we didn't like was the scary lady serving, who was rude, unfriendly and abrupt. We only had tea (hot water with the tea bag left in) and a shortbread biscuit but yet she shouted loudly "payed to the last cent I see" when we settled the bill. We tip on service, we were going to go back tonight for drinks, not any more, would rather give our money and tips to someone who deserves it, what a shame. Someone with no customer service skills who had only boiled a kettle did not deserve a tip and we will not be returning.

I don't drink coffee, I only drink tea, normally when abroad its ghastly, mostly because of the milk they use, when I saw the sign, tetley tea made with (boiling water) I just had to give it ago, it was great, just sorry that I didn't get around to the beans on toast and chip butties, maybe on another visit.

We stumbled across this humble small cafe. It really does have so much to offer. The surroundings are awesome. The owners can come across as stern but it really adds to the quirkiness. The food is lovely and really good value. Definitely worth a visit.
