What a little gem of a find this place is. The wine and food was fantastic, as we expected from Italy but what really surpassed our expectations for Malcesine was the service. From the moment we walked through the cobbled tunnel, seduced by tunes from the live guitarist, we were greeted with a big smile. Quickly they hurried to assemble us a table and sat us down furnishing our glasses with delicious valpolicello wine and satisfying my impatient hunger with a bread basket and some local fruity olive oil. We ordered our first course which was a tagliatelle to share and it was presented beautifully on two plates. Second course was a juicy T-bone steak, cooked to perfection and a smoked duck lasagne; subtle yet decadent and not like one we'd had before. Portion sizes were generous and so we didn't have room for dessert but the waiters wouldn't let us leave without a limoncello on the house. Emilio, Sandro and the other waiters were wonderfully attentive, despite it being 9pm nearing the end of a long season for them; they greeted every customer with enthusiasm, in English, Italian and German and with warm hearts, we felt like the first customers to walk through their door on opening night. Quite an achievement considering they do this night after night. Go, you will not be disappointed. Diolch Casa Italia for a wonderful last night in Malcesine, Bruno and Lia xx

Lovely Italian Restaurant at the lakeside in Malcesine, with a varied selection of food to suit all tastes, really nice staff and book early if you wasn't a lakeside view table!

I came across this joyous place by accident. Just wandering the streets and as the sun was setting, I spotted 'my' table, with back to the wall, facing the lake. Service was very friendly and the suggested bottle of Rose, gorgeous. As I was travelling alone, there was no problem keeping the rest of the bottle until the following night. I had the smoked duck and smoked cheese Lasagne which was great. On my return the next evening, sure enough, my name (Gerardo) was on 'my' table and I got stuck into a large bowl of Mussels (sautéed in a sauce of tomatoes and herbs) superb! Apart from the food and fantastic location, it is the super friendly service that really makes this special. But don't forget, you get what you give, smile be happy and they'll return tenfold.

We visited Casaitalia for an evening meal.
The location is simply delightful. A small square with evening couples strolling and the lake lapping at the small harbours edge.
The food was very good and a little different to many other restaurants in the locality. In particular, the lamb chops were very well prepared and served. The creme Catalan was most defiantly in our top 3 ever, Barcelona' s '15 nites' and barcelonetta's 'la Fresca' in the mix as well.
Service was excellent and with a smile, nothing to much trouble, Amilio although Italian has a little gerordie humour in his soul!
In conclusion, you won't go far wrong with choice, quality and service and the scenery/atmosphere is intoxicating.........
