So so beautiful and great for a beginner with a little confidence. It has some lovely lovely pistes and I really felt the spirit of the Alps!
Great well run ski resort with wide range of slopes. Lofts almost all high capacity and modern. Minimal lift queues. Scenery really spectacular in places and not at all crowded. Town itself has lots to offer, full range of restaurants including pizza/pasta places serving great food at 10euro per pizza. Reasonable size and prices supermarkets. Lots of designer shops with duty free prices. Easy town to get round using the frequent free bus service. Mainly reliable although times give or take 5 mins. Shuttle bus between Carousel 300 and the lifts on the other side of the valley very efficient.
I snowboard all around the world and I’d give this place 0 stars if it was possible. Arrived and paid for passes, just warming up, down the slope 3 times. Then told we had to go back down due to the wind. Ok, I’m fine with that, it happens and you can’t predict the weather. I went up to the desk to get my refund as I’d literally just got there. I was told there was no refund policy. Literally doesn’t happen anywhere else. I’ve been snowboarding Stelvio Pass all summer and whenever they had to close early, I got a pass for the next day free of charge. Just shocking customer service. I’d use expletives, but I don’t want this review to get deleted. I was here for the long weekend, but I’ll be going to St Moritz instead. 0 stars out of 5.
Try Tutti-Frutti, well developed trails. Nice and not so technically difficult. If you want to have more challenge there are many trails red/black to try.
If the snow conditions are good, excellent for real beginners or intermediates. There are better resorts suited for true blue skiers.
Nice flattish training school areas but other blues can be tricky, steep or icy in places. The whole area is hard to travel across without red runs too. So more geared towards intermediates. If you are in this category though the runs are wide and therefore quite forgiving. Good for building confidence.
If icy can be tricky though.
Lower slopes on both sides of the valley can get over skied and churned up. Stay higher up and take the lift down on your way home.
Link bus is a quick system for getting across to the opposite side of the valley from where you are (north or south). Use the normal bus lines (stops at each stop) for traveling up or down each side.
Food on the mountain found at main lifts mainly. Typical variety of ski lunches inside and out. Prices probably average for Italian ski resorts.
Shopping tax free here so alcohol and clothes can be cheaper. Lots of designer shops in the centre of town.
Resort just big enough for a week if you cover most runs.
This popular Livigno skiing area is also great for non-skiers to visit during the winter months. The views of Livigno are beautiful and there is a really nice 2 km round trip winter walking route to enjoy on a sunny day. And to finish the visit a bombardino is the perfect final act, a sweet, calorie-laden treat of egg liquor, whisky and whipped cream.
