Never again would we stay here. The hotel has a great location next to the lake, but is tired, run down and grossly overpriced. We paid a lot for a Junior Suite and were expecting a sumptuous stay wonderful surrounding & décor with attentive staff. The opposite is true. The view was great but that was all. On arrival at the hotel the welcome was 'lukewarm' and our impression throughout our stay was that it was once a 'grand hotel' that has been poorly managed and let go. It is now run down and in need of substantial updating. On top of our overpriced suite, and to add insult to injury, the hotel charge 5 Euros extra for a poached or boiled egg at breakfast and a further 5 Euros per day for a pool side lounger cushion per person. We also had to pay 14 Euros per day extra for parking. Outrageous given the cost to stay in the hotel! The breakfast was mediocre at best, and more like a 3* hotel; no sliced fresh fruit and a limited choice. We avoided the restaurant for all other meals. I was also expecting water sport facilities but there was nothing provided. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!

From the start to finish this is a lovely lovely hotel. Traditional, with modern conveniences. The rooms are spacious light and airy. The food is excellent .The stunner is the location just fabulous right on the lake with a huge frontage . Plenty of seating . The hotel was full but you would not know.A Wonderful 3 days.

First visit to Lake Garda , so glad we chose Grand Gardone Hotel , it's like stepping back in time such a beautiful hotel.
We had a suite with a fabulous view of the lake , room was a good size ( even had a small walk in wardrobe!) Large bed , huge bathroom ,shower , fridge , two balconies one with table two chairs( small but adequate) room could do with tea/coffee facilities ! .
Reception staff all very helpful, house keeping very good , (chocolate on bed at evening turn down !)
Outside chairs to sit & read, or afternoon tea in Winnies bar , reading room ..bygone days ! Papers available although not many English ones ! .
Restaurant food is really good ,large portions ! Beware as others have said , water is €4:50 , House wine €26:00 .
Breakfast is good plenty of choice , a bit hectic at times...
Waiters are very good ( 2 were a bit abrupt ) I have to mention Giovanni, impeccable manners, sence of humour, gives a service rather than go through motions of service ! .
Ferries right outside, Ask for promotion vouchers for 20% off at reception at hotel, buses on main rd from hotel : get ticket at travel agent across from ferry ticket office .
We had a lovely time at Gardone , plenty to see ,& do , a must is Gabrielle d Annunzio house/ gardens ( take house tour it's an eye opener!) Little train takes you up to the house as it's a steep climb , Sirmione is lovely but very crowded, Salo is lovely plenty of shops, cafe, resturants.
Grand Gardone is a lovely hotel, but more for the older person , not for people looking for night life ...although there was a band on the parade by hotel on our last evening , excellent singing ! we most definitely be going back again !

We stayed at this hotel the first week of September. A good time to come because its not too hot to visit places like Verona and Venice. Ideal spot on the lake to catch boats to visit other resorts on the Lake.
Breakfast was fine with a reasonable choice. Salad bar in the evening was very disappointing with an exceedingly poor choice each night.. However what was really strange was the ample array of desserts that had no indication what so ever as to what they were! Not a good idea if someone has an allergy. It wouldn't take long to type up a label identifying each dessert. Guests shouldn't have to guess what they are eating.

The reception staff were extremely helpful and efficient. Most staff were very friendly but
the hotel was let down by one or two in the dining room.
Would we come again? Yes we would.
We liked the atmosphere in the bar but drinks are very expensive. Pool bar has a very limited menu.
