We spent one night in this hotel. It is placed between two roads, I recommend room with lago view - it is more silent. Room was OK, friendly staff and very good breakfest. They don´t serve dinner. If you want to walk for dinner - there is only one pizzeria close to hotel, Or you can drive to Pergina.
An old-fashioned hotel smack in the middle of the Castiglione del Lago centro storico. Yes, the furniture in the rooms could be updated, money could probably be spent in various parts of the hotel - including the breakfasts - but then the price would probably go up. €90 per night for a double room in the location is a bargain. Very friendly, welcoming staff, and the rooms at the back have lovely views over Trasimeno. Stay there again happily.
My wife and I spent two nights staying at Hotel Miralago which is ideally located in the historical small square of the quaint old town of Castiglione del Lago. At the front of the hotel, table and chairs are located in the square itself, which is ideal for having a coffee or drink from the hotel’s bar, snack or even breakfast, if one so desires.
Car parking is readily available with a drop off point at the main entrance to the town square (approximately 50 metres from the hotel) and then permanent free parking is a further 100 metres away.
Hotel Miralago could best be described as being a basic hotel having rooms of a satisfactory size, albeit certain aspects of the rooms are a bit “tired”, with quite simple furnishings and the bed in our room being a little on the hard side. Conversely, the room was clean, air-conditioned and had free Wi-Fi which worked effectively.
The bathroom, whilst quite large, had an old antiquated fold out / pull together square shower screen which was cumbersome to assemble and would be totally unsatisfactory for older persons or children to utilise. The end result, not surprisingly, was that the bathroom floor generally finished up in a flooded state.
Rooms are also spread over 4 floors (some having quite nice views over the lake) but there is no lift, so if one has a considerable amount of luggage or is in any way incapacitated or elderly, then a lower level floor would be a pre-requisite. The other thing to note is that at times; the lower rooms that overlook the square (particularly in the peak seasons on weekends) could be impacted by noise, as at the time of our visit there was live entertainment up until 11pm.
The buffet breakfast provided was satisfactory and comprised cereals, pastries, yoghurts and prosciutto, with the hotel unfortunately running out of yoghurt on our second day and not being able to provide a further supply, which was somewhat surprising considering the hotel was almost fully booked.
With regards service, the owner was extremely obliging and friendly during our stay and no problems were encountered.
In conclusion, if you a looking for a basic clean hotel in an ideal location and are not overly fussed about the quality of all the amenities, then Hotel Miralago would probably suit.
We enjoyed 6 days at the Miralago, it is in the centre of the village and lovely to eat breakfast watching the village shops come to life. The rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was basic but very enjoyable. Hotel manager and staff very friendly and helpful and the tourist information centre is next door which was also very useful. We had a room with a view of the lake. Would definitely stay there again. There is free parking outside the walls of the village with the hotel then being a short walk away.
definitively not good value for money!
poor breakfast with little choice and instant coffee though the bar from the hotel had a proper expresso coffee machine. On morning cheese and ham were over and the owner kept telling customers : "if you want some, I'm going to buy some" of course everybody said "no, don't mind"
The room was quite ugly with very old furniture (and not the kind of old that is nice), quite different from the pictures anyway. The bedhead was dirty (big spots from previous people) and there was no shower tray, water (not very hot by the way) was just falling on the floor of the bathroom.
There was an engine and water noise day and night so that it was impossible to sleep with the window open.
Satellite worked badly, it was impossible to watch satellite channels and, anyway, they were only in italian although a lot of customers were foreigners.
